Articles for Creation urgently needs YOUR help!

Articles for Creation is desperately short of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors, in reviewing submissions in the pending submissions queue. Currently there are 1572 submissions waiting to be reviewed and many help requests at our Help Desk.

Do you have what it takes?
  1. Are you familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines?
  2. Do you know what Wikipedia is and is not?
  3. Do you have a working knowledge of the Manual of Style, particularly article naming conventions?
  4. Are you autoconfirmed?
  5. Can you review submissions based on their individual merits?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog. You might wish to add {{AFC status}} or {{AfC Defcon}} to your userpage, which will alert you to the number of open submissions.

PS: we have a great AFC helper script at User:Timotheus Canens/afchelper4.js which helps in reviewing in just few edits easily!

We would greatly appreciate your help. Currently, only a small handful of users are reviewing articles. Any help, even if it's just 2 or 3 reviews, it would be extremely beneficial.
On behalf of the Articles for Creation project,
TheSpecialUser TSU

Heads up

When dealing with potentially offensive usernames, it's important to look at the context. Gaylord is a reasonably common given name or surname and in light of the accounts actions it seems much more likely that it's the person's actual name or alias than a troll giggling about the gay. It's not a big deal, just a heads up for future patrolling. There are a lot of common names that have eyebrow raising strings embedded in them. Danger! High voltage!

Hey, I have just recieved a message from wikipedia that you have reported my page "Glasgow Mets" for speedy delition or something like that. Can I know why?? everything was done like its supposed to be done, every picture was taken by me, every single word was written by me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.102.110.89 (talk) 20:30, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing for you to worry about - it was just a history merge, because you copy-pasted the page rather than moving it. Thanks, Mdann52 (talk) 18:25, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Redirect

You should have checked what you were reverting. There is already a page for "Girl on Fire" by Alicia Keys at Girl on Fire (Alicia Keys song), whilst there is already a song by Rob Zombie also called "Girl on Fire". Hence the disambiguation page is required and its perfectly feasible that someone might type Girl on Fire (song) looking for the Rob Zombie recording, hence I redirected it to the DAB page. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 17:37, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, sorry about that - I was going by the convention I had heard of that you shouldn't redirect to DABS...... Mdann52 (talk) 17:39, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Normally you wouldn't. But where there are 4 topics called Girl on Fire: a rob zombie song, an alicia keys song, an alicia keys album and a reference to the hungergames there's no benefit to making Girl on Fire (song) a dab page for two songs. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 17:41, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CB in Canada.

Hi, I got the message that you removed the addition I placed regarding the Canadian CB messageboard that has just opened.

I feel that it could help Canadian CB enthusiasts in the future. The hobby seems to be getting bigger again, and there is absolutely nowhere in Canada that has such a messageboard. Sure, there are plenty in the US and in europe. It would just be nice for enthusiasts to chat with like minded people.

I understand tat you do have the last say in these matters, but would ask you to consider the matter seriously.

Best Regards,

Jeff

== My rejected page on Mikel Louis Weisser ==

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Mikel_Louis_Weisser

Hello, I understand the reasoning behind the rejection, but here's the situation. Mikel Weisser is a candidate for Congress in Arizona's 4th Congressional District, and he asked me to creat a Wikipedia page for him about his biography. He supplied me with the content to include on the page, and he took it from the content of his own personal blog. How can I get to use that information on a Wikipedia page for him, as he requested?

Time is essential on this as election day is November 6th. I appreciate your consideration of that. Thank You!

Article Feedback

Hi, you recently rejected my article and I was wondering if you could give me feedback so I can improve it? So far, I've done everything I was told to improve it, but it keeps getting rejected and I really can't find where it sounds like an advertisement? I would really appreciate the help! Cheers, A.brinkter (talk) 06:21, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Deletion

You removed my edit on the page "Litter in Australia", and I am not quite too sure why. I added a quote from the leader of the coalition political party, Ted Ballieu. This is a legitimate quote, which sparked a lot of hype in the Australian media. Please have it reverted back to my edit. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.190.90.10 (talk) 11:00, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was unsourced - everything on Wikipedia needs to be supported by a reliable source - se WP:RS. Mdann52 (talk) 15:59, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Gail Russell

Gail had aged very badly during her 5 year break from filming, due to her alcoholism. Audiences were quite shocked by how bad she looked in "Seven Men from Now", as she was barely 31 when it was filmed. I think this should be mentioned in the article, because losing her looks so early was a major reason why she was unable to restart her career (together with her inability to stop drinking). You need reliable sources - see WP:RS. Mdann52 (talk) 20:40, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Corey Large Entry

Hi

I'm confused as to how to source beyond the references I have included on this entry (its my first effort).

I was commissioned via the Subject's PR rep in Canada to put the materials together and then asked to post it. The material source is in fact the Subject himself, Corey Large. Additional sources are noted but mostly ImDB which I would think is a legitimate source.

For example, his birthdate. There's no published records so how do you source it?

His basic bio was pulled together from his existing sites which are referenced in the article and from an interview with him to add some colour.

How do I work around and through this issue.

Appreciate the help. This is something I might do more of for clients moving forward so I am anxious to learn. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ianjohnharvey (talkcontribs) 19:18, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ImBD is not considered reliable - like Wikipedia, it is user generated, therefore considered unreliable. Please also see WP:PSCOI, as I believe you have a major conflict of interests. Mdann52 (talk) 20:43, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not a COI if transparent

Thanks for your comments.

My notes:

1) Wiki guidelines suggest COI is mitigated if transparent.

2) The Content is factual and does not "sell" it is positioned as a biography and of interest. Many people work in relative obscurity in the movie industry.

3) Regarding ImDB. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_IMDb

This page in a nutshell: Anecdotes, trivia, and unreleased film information from IMDb do not meet the reliable sources guideline. The IMDb should only be used as a tertiary source for "hard data" on released films.

IMDb was cited as a Hard Data Source for completed projects

Are you suggesting then that for each movie I find a link to the movie's website as well as IMDb and or a review or other publication? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ianjohnharvey (talkcontribs) 21:14, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article on Adopt-a-Pet.com

Please let me know where and how I violated copyright.

Also, my most recent draft seems to have been deleted - any way you can restore it? The August 23 version is definitely way too old. I have made many changes since.

sorry, one more point

Self-published and questionable sources as sources on themselves Shortcut: WP:SELFSOURCE Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, especially in articles about themselves, without the requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as:

the material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim; it does not involve claims about third parties (such as people, organizations, or other entities); it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject; there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; the article is not based primarily on such sources. These requirements also apply to pages from social networking sites such as Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook.

With great respect I believe the subject as a source meets the guidelines here (the ongoing discussion around IMDb aside of course) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ianjohnharvey (talkcontribs) 21:23, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Trouted

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You have been trouted for: the sheer fun of it. Good day, sir. Alex J Fox (Talk) (Contribs) 19:08, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question - My Man Is A Loser Rejected For Copyrighted Material

hi - you recently reclined or article submission for the upcoming movie My Man Is A Loser. You indicated it was rejected for using copyrighted material? We can't figure out how to see what part of our article uses copyrighted material as we believe we were only sighting articles, interviews, etc.?

Which part(s) of our article is utilizing copyrighted material and how do you recommend we change it so you feel it complies with Wikipedia's requirements?

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dockkcod (talkcontribs) 13:11, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
