GA review
Thanks for taking up the review for Stone Rollin'. Usually it can take week or several for one of those nominations to get taken up. Dan56 (talk) 19:23, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, I really hate to see the number of nominations getting bigger, hence thought of eliminating those from below. Twisted theory I know. — Legolas(talk2me)05:25, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, only if you can, would you be able to do give a Peer Review currently on the on the S&M article? No one has given one yet. I requested one to see what else needs to be done to the article before i nominate for GA again. Thanks. calvin999 (talk) 17:28, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :). When you say "wholly revamp and copy-edit the article", what do you mean by this, re-write the entire article?! calvin999 (talk) 11:57, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You know you just reverted my edit reverting that IP User, how come you said it's a valid chart but removed it from S&M saying it's unnecessary? calvin999 (talk) 14:37, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What was you saying was unnecessary? Because someone had added the "Brasil Hot Pop & Popular Songs" chart but now it is not there.calvin999 (talk) 14:49, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the Romania chart because there is no archive and peak position will be difficult to verify. As for Billboard Brazil Hot Pop, its also unnecessary to add it when the Hot 100 Airplay is already present. — Legolas(talk2me)14:52, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wait some time, any trusted user will come and check the file. I would also advice you not to upload these images, as they are kinda blurry and fade in their resolution. Its better you search for extreme high quality images, which I'm sure are available. — Legolas(talk2me)05:59, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have access to Mediabase or Allaccess quick-cut info? If not, then no. Last I know, BTINH's totals were "65 46 BEYONCE Best Thing I Never Had 589 157 +432 6.745". — Legolas(talk2me)06:24, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
46 is its latest position, it still hasn't broken into top 40, 589 is its total spins, 157 is the spins increased (bullet) from last week, and 6.745 is its audience impression in millions. PS, Can you please not edit conflict? — Legolas(talk2me)06:29, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And JonathanLGardner has continued history of uploading images not conforming to WP:NFCC and continued vandalism and sockpuppetry. I would suggest you not to encourage him to post images in his flickr account, which will of course be non-free. — Legolas(talk2me)06:41, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
haha. thank you so much!! I would never of known what to do as it is the first time I have tried doing this. I'll have a look through the dates and nominate. :) calvin999 (talk) 11:59, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So are you saying that it could never be a GA because there simply isn't enough info to make it worthy? (Also, there is nothing to really say with regard to performance descriptions. It's just Mariah and a mic, nothing else). calvin999 (talk) 16:17, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I never said that, I said at present its a long stretch for it to be a GA, without any song info, background, composition etc. May be later when Carey talks about it more. As for the live performances, there are more aspects to it like the reception of the performance, the mood in which she sang it, the vocals, whether the composition varied from venue to venue etc. — Legolas(talk2me)16:38, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh okay, that's how it read. I could talk about those things but there won't be any sources to back it up. She sang the song in the same style, key and mood every-time, although the one in Japan was lip-synced. calvin999 (talk) 16:43, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There you go, you can research on the lip-synch. Maybe you can find how critics reacted to it. Since Carey is a good vocalist she is bound to be criticized for it etc etc. Calvin, there's no limit to what you can find by proper research. Try google news archives, try magazines in your local libraries, try magazines online. You will be surprised probably at the amount of info the song might have. Of course I did a basic search and found nothing. — Legolas(talk2me)16:49, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not really, it's not as critisized as Britney for example, because it is vocally taxing for Mariah to always sing live outside of the US in addition to the US. It's only been since 2008 that she has started singing live outside the US again, since 2002/2003. But I'll have a look. Thanks. calvin999 (talk) 16:59, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there, not sure if I should be hassling you like this but I noticed you do a fair bit of GA reviews. I've just done a major overhaul of the article on Nadia Ali after a peer review. Based on similar articles in the Wikiproject Electronic Music I think it's ready for a GA status, so I've nominated it for that. If it's possible could you please have a look at it and suggest what other changes I need to make before it can get that rating? Thanks Hassan514 (talk) 20:56, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the changes you've made but I do have an issue with removing the Queen of Clubs image. Yes, it's copyright but it does come under the fair use criteria because the image is not an album cover neither is it replaceable. I strongly think that it helps understanding what Ali did with the trilogy where she has portrayed herself as the "Queen of Clubs". The image helps in understanding how she used the playing card and has taken on that identity. Hassan514 (talk) 13:16, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to bother you about this type of thing again but...
Hey there ! I saw you left me message about putting too much non-useful sources or about putting website made by fan or personal blogs. I'm not trying to attract anyone into a fansite and I'll do my best to provide neutral/official links bext time, only doing this to help :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Freddy77 (talk • contribs) 02:06, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's one of mine too. I got it in my iPod and played it over 100 times in one day. After that I got "You Belong with Me" around its time of popularity and started looking into her songs from Fearless. I fell in love and bought the album, and here I am now. lol. Anyways, thanks I contacted him :) -- ipodnano05 * leave@message05:08, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Lol I was talkpage stalking you and working on it, then I got a call from my mum who told me to start cooking tea. Then I get edit conflicts! Urrgh. Lol here are songs and albums. BTW LS is also my favourite TS song, but I'm not really into her sort of music... Adabow (talk · contribs) 05:11, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Abadow, thanks. I'm into anything with actual lyrics (not like "Boom Boom Pow") and I'd read over it but I'm kind of busy, sorry. Question: Do you guys think that "Love Story" could potentially be an FA? I was thinking about nominating it. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message05:34, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Of course it can, but the amount of recent song articles that failed at FAC really irritates me, so I don't know what to say anymore. — Legolas(talk2me)05:38, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure Lego, no hurry at all. Nathan, the albums link goes back to 2008 (choose older cache), here's 2007, 20062005, and 2004. For songs, use the Billboard URL and change '2009' to the year you want (dunno when it begins). I think Japan has other singles charts, but I'm not sure if there are year-ends for them. Adabow (talk · contribs) 05:41, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In the albums one, google translate won't translate it. I can't decipher Japanese -.-. Thank you Legolas, I have seen that and then I see some FAs and they're not at the level of the candidates. I don't understand what's going on. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message05:48, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Main reason the FA's arnt passing is About.com; two (possibly 3 i cant remember) users in particular have an issue with the website, which you have a few times in the article, it will get torn apart. It will take a few years probably for the websites reliability to be established, its fine for GA's (used in literally hundreds of them, consensus has established that its allowed) but FA is another story -__- - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 06:00, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It took me some time to verify that the information he was placing was false, but I have done so (the actual number one for that period was a song called "Qimica do Amor"). He's blocked.—Kww(talk) 00:04, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
DYK for List of awards and nominations received by Madonna
Sorry that's not how consensus works here in Wikipedia. A song needs to be released physically or sent to radio for it to be confirmed as a single. Look at releases like "Hair", "Dance in the Dark" etc. They are all promotional singles, since they were not sent to radio or released as a single. — Legolas(talk2me)01:56, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I saw "The Edge of Glory" video... not good (sorry) If it helps, I hate Taylor's video for "Mean". How do you like Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" video? I'm in love with it. Also, I read the other day that you rejected Britney tickets because of lip synching. I was looking up videos and it's surprisingly LIVE! NOTICE HOW I'M WRITING IN CAPITAL LETTERS. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message07:02, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hate Gaga's video, hate Taylor's video, absolutely loooooove TGIF. And she backtracked most of it, I'm not sure from the video how much of that is live. Gaga really disappointed me. — Legolas(talk2me)07:10, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, well at least she took the liberty to sing something lol. She was never a good singer but she currently the only lip syncher in the music industry. Not even Kesha (who's songs are all auto tune). DAMMIT BRITNEY! And did you like "The Story of Us". I did haha. But TGIF is easily gonna win VMA video of the year. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message07:25, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think Katy will get at least two nominations with TGIF and Firework. Gaga one with BTW. I dont think Judas will be nominated. Britney will take another one for HIAM and another would be probably Nicki Minaj or one of the horrible rapper videos. — Legolas(talk2me)08:25, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Blackjacks101... I said almost that exact same thing on a Lady GaGa forum and they cussed me out. I even explained how Kahn was an amazing video director and that got really pissed.....
Anyway, I feel the exact same way. It almost seems like GaGa went a little nuts in the filming with the sending everyone home and not using the amazing sets built. --ĈÞЯİŒ1ооо20:22, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I know. I find that as a fan it's important to stay grounded and realize when an artist didn't do too well. I believe that this music video is her first since Just Dance that I just didn't like. It lacked a storyline, a interesting set, cool costumes etc. Just the sound of her being a mermaid with an army etc just sounds soo exciting. I know she left the project for something like artistic integrity but it definitely wasn't a good choice. I just hope she'll be able to find a way to release maybe of clip of the previous work, because as of now I will believe that no EOG video existed other than the one in my imagination with gaga has a mermaid and evolving into a human ...kinda like the Little Mermaid from Disney!--Blackjacks101 (talk) 22:01, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean embedded between two paragraphs? That quote is the last paragraph in the Remix section. It looks like just another paragraph and does not flow from the previous. I wouldn't be saying this if it was not what I thought when I saw it. At least put "" at the start and finish to make resemble somewhat of a quote. calvin999 (talk) 15:45, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You did not understand the point. See Calvin, one of the goals of developing a featured content is to make it accessible for all readers. In this case, the {{cquote}} is throwing the blockquote into the main section of the next para, because there is an image placed on the left. This will create problems for users with screen resolution < 800×600. Yes, we can put quotes and you are welcome to do that, but the template doesn't work here because of this reason, unlike the music video section. — Legolas(talk2me)15:49, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, Gaga is going to be on an hour long special interview of a program called "Paul O'Grady Live" in the UK tonight and is performing 4 songs. As you are a Gaga fan... calvin999 (talk) 16:10, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, so it's not live then...lol. Let me guess, Born This Way, Judas, The Edge of Glory (i love the video, i know you don't!), Hair & You and I? Calvin • (999)17:27, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, she started with "Hair", then moved to "The Edge of Glory" (performance resembled the music video), then "You and I" and lastly, a medley of "Born This Way" and "Judas". I actually hate the video for the fact that its so uninspired and damn cheap. — Legolas(talk2me)17:29, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I really like the video, it's not swirling around with a million ideas, it matches the song. It's good to see she can do something "normal", but people are expecting so much of her now. It's not a bad video, it's just more simple than the others. Calvin • (999)17:33, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Don't get me wrong, I like the simple approach, its just that its executed so bad! Especially that shoddy editing and the camera work. Critics seem to love it though, except of course Popjustice. — Legolas(talk2me)17:42, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, do you know any administrators that can (permanently, if possible) semi-protect the this article from IP users, they keep on making stupid changes and mucking up the tour date wikichart which I keep correcting lol. Calvin • (999)21:24, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes any help would be much appreciated, struggling to find any notable references about development and recording. Reception and Promotion sections have a lot of strong informational references but elsewhere I dont know where to look for Madonna references. Thanks --FeuDeJoie (talk) 15:56, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
DYK for Hair (Lady Gaga song)
On 19 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Hair (Lady Gaga song), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Clarence Clemons reached the studio at midnight to record the saxophone part on Lady Gaga's song "Hair" and finished by 3:00 am? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
