Re: Humoresque
No problem. I agree, the viola has a beautiful mellow sound which is effective in that piece. Another good viola clip on Wikipedia is the prelude to Bach's 5th Cello Suite. I put back the Dvořák song cycle, as it's quite relevant to the composer article - feel free to remove that again if it's too bad - I myself can hardly hear any consonants in it. I'm relaxed about what audio files should be placed in articles ... I realise we don't have much and we have to make use of what audio is available. As long as you don't go round adding this file to Chopin's article. :-) Graham87 07:54, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I probably wasn't clear enough above, a consequence of trying to muddle too many ideas into one paragraph. Either that, or I've misunderstood you. I made this edit to Dvořák's article, to put Biblické Písně back, as the file is very relevant to the composer. I'm aware that you don't like that performance much, so feel free to remove it. I then made this edit to add the Op. 75 Romances to the Dvořák article, since they don't fit anywhere else. I've tried to follow the convention of listing articles where audio of a composers works can be found, then adding audio that won't fit anywhere else besides the composer's articles. That is why I didn't add the Humoresque to the main Dvořák article.
- For more high-brow fun, have a listen to the sound files at tromboon and Florence Foster Jenkins. Graham87 08:31, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello Vejvančický, I tried my hand at translating the Czech cs:Hana Hegerová page into English. The original Czech article is not very interesting so I think it needs to be expanded. Would you mind reviewing it when you have a moment? Thanks! Hrdinský (talk) 08:14, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Re: Romantic Pieces Op. 75 (Dvořák)
It's a nice article. I've copyedited it, compacted the refs, and used level 3 headings instead of bolding per the Manual of Style. I find it fascinating that he completely forgot that he composed the violin and viola trio - I can't even imagine doing that! But with so many other things happening in his life, it's probably understandable. Graham87 00:36, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello Vejvančický, your Dvořák article was very interesting. I didn't know the background of those pieces, but now it all makes sense. I made a couple of edits to make a some things clear. If I have made incorrect changes, please revert them.
To my knowledge, neither the "Terceto" nor the "Drobnosti" are referred to outside the Czech Republic with the Italian word "Trio". Your souces may say otherwise. For me, they are known as "Terzetto in C Major" and "Miniatures". Drobnosti seems to be only published as "Drobnosti = Kleine Stücke = Miniatures" (Czech, German, and French/English) – they are not published under the title "Bagatelles" (although this is a legitimate translation). When I think of Dvořák's "Bagatelles", I think of "Maličkosti", Op.47, B.79. Do your sources refer to "Drobnosti" as "Bagatelles"? or is this a translation? The use of the title "Bagatelles" in the article is confusing for me (i.e. Dvořák stated: "I am writing little Bagatelles...").
I own a score of the Romantic Pieces, so I added key and time signatures to the movements per my score. Looking at the manuscript of the first page for the "Miniatures", the key signature seems to be "B♭ major" (B dur), not "B major" (H dur). As I don't have access to a score of Dvořák's Miniatures, I can't confirm the key signatures for the remaining movements. Would you mind doublechecking?
- Cavatina (Moderato), B major, 4/4 => B♭ major
- Capriccio (Poco allegro), D minor, 2/4
- Romance (Allegro), B major, 4/4
- Elegy or Ballad, (Larghetto), B minor, 9/8

- I see you have nominated this for DYK. I think the fact that he originally wrote the pieces to play with his neighbor is more interesting. What about you? -- ... that Antonín Dvořák arranged his Romantic Pieces from a trio he originally wrote to play with his neighbors? Hrdinský (talk) 21:22, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello! Your submission of Romantic Pieces (Dvořák) at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed. There still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. - The in-line reference to the hooked material is a sentence or two past where it appears in the article. Normally this isn't an issue but since I can't check the source, it is. Please confirm that the hooked text is in the in-line reference that most immediately follows the text in the article, so we can put a good-faith-check next to it. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:05, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the information; I had pretty much given up hope of finding it. As for thank you in Czech, I didn't really want to know. Hi Vejvancicky, thanks for the hello. Yes, I agree I need to find citations for the edits I made. What I wrote was very sloppy. But I felt getting rid of reference to the "denunciation controversy" in the opening was worthwhile, even if I only made it slightly better. It is too bad there are not more editors working on this page, because it needs a whole lot of work -- and it would be good to have a number of other people to exchange opinions with. Moravská lidová hudba
Hello Vejvančický! Thanks for asking me to help with the Moravian folk music article. To be honest, THIS is where my heart lies. I love Okinawan and Czech/Moravian folk music SO much. I have a few CDs that I carried home from the Czech Republic -- including Hrbáč's Horňácký hudec CD. I will be very busy for the next week and may not have much time, but will try to look at the article a little by little. As always, don't hesitate to revert any edit that isn't your intention! Appropriate picture?
While I've been enjoying your improvements on the Jaroslav Krček article so far, I have to admit I don't see the point for an extra picture of the composer, moreover a late 20th century photo inserted in the Raab (1971) specific section. Wouldn't you consider this picture instead?

Moravian ethnographical regions
Listing the "regions" in the first section is redundant since they are each (except Brněnsko) discussed in detail in the table. I think we need to delete them from this part, only discussing general set-up, characteristics and influences.
I've tried to make the detailed information in the section more concise and clear. I've also changed the table significantly. I hope it's better. Don't hesitate to revert anything I've changed. (-: Hrdinský (talk) 07:30, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
The map and the table don't fit well together now... Sorry. Maybe I can figure out a way to make it look better. Hrdinský (talk) 07:35, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Moravia is ethnographically divided into approximately ten regions.[1] The regions of central and western Moravia – Horácko, Podhorácko, Haná and Brněnsko – are oriented rather to the Bohemian folk culture. The northeastern regions – Moravian Wallachia and Lachia – are influenced by Slovak and Polish culture. They are closer to the Carpathian circle of folk culture. Southeastern Moravia is an area with many ethnographically different regions. However, the complex of ethnographical subregions of southern and southeastern Moravia (southeastern from Brno) often uses common title Moravian Slovakia, in Czech: Slovácko. Moravian Slovakia is divided into several subregions:
- Dolňácko Region, divided into three sub-regions.
- Horňácko Region
- Podluží Region
- Uherskobrodsko Region
- Hanácké Slovácko Region
- Luhačovické Zálesí Region
Moravian Slovakia encompasses the districts of Hodonín and Uherské Hradiště, and partially stretches also into the districts of Břeclav and Zlín.

Hello Vejvančický: I rewrote the introductory paragraph hoping better organize the information. I changed the final sentence from "Moravian Duets were the main base for composer's entering the world scene" to "Popular interest in the Moravian Duets was the starting point for subsequent works which propelled Dvořák to international fame." My wording is slightly different from the previous sentence. Please revert this if it is not the content of your source. Hrdinský (talk) 05:13, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Janacek copyedit
Hi! and thank you for the message left on my talk page. IMHO the article needs only a little work to achieve 'A' class wiki rank. My copyedit contributions will be occasional, for the time being, though once I start I tend to go at it like a ferret. Just FYI, I have no musical expertise whatsoever, but love - and that's not too strong a word - Janacek's music. (As a somewhat irrelevant footnote: "It's hard not to admire a country that elects one of the world's finest poets as President".) Haploidavey (talk) 14:54, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

- Just got your nice message on my talk. I'd already read the linked material and the reports from previous submission. The article isn't at all far from being fit for resubmission, but I really do recommend we also solicit another editor. I always do my best, but am not that happy with some of my prose. Mind you, a short break from an article can work wonders for its editing. Haploidavey (talk) 14:45, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello Vejvančický: Today, I have been working on a new page: the composer Heinrich XXIV, Prince of Reuss-Köstritz. I translated it from the German Wikipedia article. Thank you very much for correcting the Czech titles on the article on Dana Vávrová. My knowledge of the Czech language is almost non-existant, but I considered the Czech and German Wikipedia articles together with the references I found in English to be sufficient to at least write an article which someone with greater knowledge could expand.
