Francisco "Pancho" Gonzalez

[edit]

Francisco "Pancho" Gonzalez, born in Tabasco (Mexico), is a leader in the food and restaurant industry, who currently serves as CEO of Lopez Dorada Foods,[1][2][3] where he oversees a diverse portfolio of brands with a customer-centric focus.

Career and education

[edit]

Pancho initiated his career as a McDonald's Franchisee in 1993 in Tabasco, where he owned and operated five restaurants over eight years. His background in tourism and hospitality facilitated a seamless transition into leadership roles, including President of the Mexican Co-op.

In 2002, he became Vice President of Operations for McDonald's Mexico, and, two years later, he was named Senior Vice President of Operations thus assuming additional responsibilities for the six countries of the Central America Region. Shortly after, Gonzalez became Managing Director for McDonald's Mexico before transitioning into the US business as Vice President of Operations and Franchising assigned to the Indianapolis Region.

From November 2009 to January 2013, he acted as Vice President of Operations and Franchising for the Greater Chicago Region. He was then appointed Vice President and General Manager of the Michigan Region. It was during this time that he set into motion the Michigan Vision 2020 plan to revitalize the Detroit market during the 2013 economic downturn. His leadership led to his subsequent role as Vice President and General Manager for the Houston Region up until 2018.

Before joining the Lopez Dorada team as CEO[4][5] in 2022, he worked with Dunkin' Brands in 2019 as Regional VP for the Southwest region in the US and Latin America[6]; before expanding to VP of the Americas for all six of the Inspire Brands, including Arby's, Baskin-Robbins, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dunkin', Jimmy John's and Sonic in 16 countries.

Pancho is a graduate of Seneca College in Toronto, Canada, and has pursued leadership certifications in Finance and Executive Management from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). He has also completed executive education programs in Strategic Planning at the University of Chicago and Brand Mastery at the Kellogg School of Management. Additionally, he graduated from the McDonald's LAMP Program associated with Thunderbird University in Global Management.

Recognition

[edit]

Pancho's contributions to the industry have earned him awards and recognitions, including the Golden Arch Award and the Outstanding Plan Execution Award from McDonald's USA.

Community involvement

[edit]

Complementing his professional endeavors, Pancho is actively involved in various community and industry organizations. He serves as Chairman Emeritus at the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (HHCC)[7] and sits on the boards of the Latino Donor Collaborative (LDC)[8][9][10] and the Greater Oklahoma City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.[11]
