Assignment - Part 1

Crisis management (using this one for the purpose of the assignment)

The corporation was completely open with the public throughout, and every employee of Pepsi was kept aware of the details.[citation needed]

New content: Throughout the crisis Pepsi was completely open with the public and every employee through the use of popular television shows such as "Larry King Live" and "The MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour. This made public communications effective throughout the crisis. After the crisis had been resolved, the corporation ran a series of special campaigns designed to thank the public for standing by the corporation, along with coupons for further compensation. On June 21, the company ran full page advertisements in 12 national newspapers,"Pepsi is pleased to announce... nothing," read the headline of the advertisements. [1]

Reference for new content - Greenberg, Keith Elliot (August 1993). "Pepsi's big scare". The Public Relations Journal 49 (8): 6.

Observation: The article consists of lots of information and provides real life examples to illustrate their topic. When I reviewed the talk section of the page a person stated that "the article gives examples but does not give solutions" and someone commented that "wikipedia is not a place for counseling it's an encyclopedia". I found both of these comments to be valid. I to question which one is correct.

Idea for new content

Discuss the importance of keeping employees informed during a crisis. Discuss the importance of being open and honest with the public through the stages of a crisis to insure the trust in the brand.
