Time in Antarctica
I am going to be starting a new artical called Time in Antarctica, if anyone would like to contribute you may. :) – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 21:12, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thx for your msg. Today I converted a North pole projection to the utc-hue4 system, maybe the contained map is some inspiration: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:UTC_hue4map_X_world_CET-24h-NorthPolarProjection.png . I would be more inclined to work on the article if it would reside in the article space. If you move it, pls tell me. TZ master (talk) 04:19, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry for my delayed responce, this has been a busy sunday for me, I woke up and immediately had to start writing an essay for school due in a few days, then at eleven I had work, I just got home, but I need to finish my essay, I will work on moving Time in Antarctica into artical space after I verify the accuracy of way is on there, I will also include a hue4 map after every time zone is listed, I will need to find a blank map of antarctica broke into zones, but without any pixelly fuzz, SVG will not work on my computer, I am limited to doing a PNG on Paint Pro. I will try to get back to the moving of the artical soon, but you are free to visit my userspace, I trust and give you permission, also I havnt had time to convert my global TZ map yet, but I will.– Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 00:34, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
I have now upgraded Time in Antarctica to be its own artical, It still requires expansion, but now you wont have to feel uncomfortable if you choose to help, have a nice day :) .– Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 20:10, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Great. I am very busy too, please excuse if I write very short. Some notes for the colors and the map in general at commons:Talk:Time_Zones_in_Antarctica.png. TZ master (talk) 15:59, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
How about outsourcing the key, and move it into a template like here: Template:Time_zones_of_Brazil. Then the key descriptions can be made clickable and also the English words on the current key don't hinder other language WP's to use the PNG. TZ master (talk) 16:01, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

- Sorry, It's a CC-0 I didn't know I forgot to put it on there. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 16:29, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Antarctica/Russkaya, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to a nonexistent page.
If you can fix this redirect to point to an existing Wikipedia page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you also fix the redirect. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. L888Y5 (talk) 18:02, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- I thought I redirected it to Russkaya Station, if there was a typo couldnt that have just been quickly fixed by anyone, including you? – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 01:40, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- The only history in the page was the page just redirecting to itself, as far as I can remember, there was no way of me knowing that that was the target that you had intended. L888Y5 (talk) 07:38, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- I did? Sorry, I need to pay more attention, Thank You. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 14:51, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Email was sent in to the OTRS team regarding this file.
At the bottom left hand corner, the small, extremely tiny light blue section of Antarctica should be +13 (+12), not the other way around.
Looking at the bottom right hand corner, you'll notice that the same numbers are in the same sequence (the original 12, 13)... the two ends meet together; therefore, it doesn't make sense to have the lower left hand with the numbers it does.
This isn't something we handle, so I'm pointing it out to you. – Adrignola talk 04:17, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hello, I am a little confused, If both halves of the Ross Dependency are part of new zealand and both using NZST, why would there standard and DST be switched, remember, antarctica is stretched on this map, due to its location at the bottom of the world, the Antimeridian cuts through the Ross Ice Shelf, placing the eastern half of land on the left side of the map appearing far from new zealand, however the International date line has been skewed to prevent the spliting of united pieces of land such as Chukotka, Wrangel Island, Fiji, Tuvalu, or to island groups like Kiribati from being divided into different days. I dont see why the ross Dependency would be an exception here, but I may be wrong, I will do some research. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 16:41, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Actualy are artical on the Ross Dependency[1], clearly states UTC+12 for Standard Time, UTC+13 during summer (September to April).– Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 16:48, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Just pointing the message out to you. I have no idea if it's legitimate and don't have any understanding of the situation. That's why we don't handle this sort of thing. It's not our place to decide which version of an image or text is "correct". – Adrignola talk 16:48, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Dont worry, i'm not upset, I like advise on my maps, I just cant find a place that says to have them in reverse, thank you for telling me though, the person whom was concerned might not have known antarctica is shaped like this , and not like the bottom of this map , perhaps he needs a reminder, Please have a nice day. Also if you find any other mistakes, feel free to tell me, I have made tons of mistakes, and just recently caught and fixed them, we all make mistakes, and advise is always appreciated. :) – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 17:01, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Your userpage drafts
Please do not copy and paste articles to your userspace. They are copyright violations. You have copied numerous articles to your userspace, and I see no indication that you intend to work on them. Having multiple copies such as User:Phoenix B 1of3/Travis McHenry and User:Phoenix B 1of3/Copy of Travis McHenry violates WP:UP#COPIES. The sin being honest, sorry for telling anyone, I have been considering leaving wikipedia, it is growing quite to censored, I may have of worked on some them in the future, made them better, restored them, but they would still be deleted anyway, if everything on this website is deleted, why does anybody even try to contribute, we are all wasting our time if nothing we create will last long, countless hours of peoples hard work, wasted, I dont get it. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 03:43, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- I strike what I said because I said it in anger. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 18:47, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Deletion of Caiyad Phahad, non-notable promotional material, is not censorship. Cunard (talk) 03:48, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Its not the just this or promotional material I'm talking about the countless articals that are traunched every day, look, I'm not blaming you, this is something I've been thinking about for a while now, I've been very much an ostrich on this website, and I just don't want to be, I want to help, I guess I just dont quite know how. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 03:56, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- While some topics are worth salvaging, I disagree with retaining promotional material because it is harmful to Wikipedia's reputation. If you would like to help out more, one option is to review the articles submitted to Wikipedia:Articles for creation and provide guidance for the new users at Category:Pending AfC submissions. Cunard (talk) 04:03, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Cunard, do you spend your entire time criticizing users on their edits? Looking at your recent edits you rarely edit articles. Most of your time is spent on talk pages, harassing editors who disagree with you. (By the way, [2] [3][4][5] is considered canvassing. You only notified the users who commented delete.) Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 04:29, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thank You, I've never had a fellow Wikipedian stand up for me like that, I think I have a Barnstar for you. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 17:55, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- I disagree with your statement that I have canvassed and harassed, but will not hijack Phoenix B 1of3's talk page to discuss this. You are free to copy this to my talk page or your talk page, and I will explain my actions. Cunard (talk) 05:03, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Suggestion for new coloring for all time zone templates for continents and also countries by using your “Worldwide Time Zones (including DST).png” map as a basis, because importantly, it is also taking DST into account:
The reason is that disagreements and reversals are occurring in the Template: Time zones of Europe about changing the colors in this template because it is affecting labeling.
I criticized the coloring (for aesthetic reasons, rather than for labeling which seems to be the main issue) of the previous versions in this template that is causing a near edit war and recommended your map as a basis for coloring all time zone templates in the Template talk: Time zones of Europe
Even if no agreement appears and this issue continues, would you nevertheless color all time zone templates for continents and countries in the colors you used in your map because your map is very nicely done in its clarity, by its use of coloring according to each time zone and DST, and would be very easy to implement for the time zone templates for continents and countries and the appropriate labeling.

I like what im hearing, but I need to have a clear and sober mind before I start answering questions, If I wasn't so tired right now, I'd give a better responce, talk to me about it tomorow, I have decided I will go along with the UTC hUE4 scheem, i am just to exhauseted and out of it to focus tonight, See you all in 12 hours. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 05:12, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
My objection in the labeling UTC hUE4 scheem by TZ master is, that the hue system is not taking DST into account, and that is why time zone maps are more complicated. For instance some countries or their units either use them or not. And this is not reflected in the hue system. --Menikure Talk 07:20, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- hue is only one part of the HSL coloring system, deviations can be made for DST. See the overview which puts maps from different regions together and where same standard offset is used, the same hue is used. I am happy to support Phoenix B 1of3 on a world map. The Indiana map commons:File:UTC TZ hue4map USA-IN.svg uses two hues only, for UTC-5 (yellow) and UTC-6 (red) still it can display several different tz database zones. TZ master (talk) 13:50, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Good Morning! My Talk Page has never been so popular before, I am flattered so many people finding my map useful, I love the idea of uniforming the time zone maps to be easier to identify, but my map currently follows no color patterns, and the UTC hue4 with a few adjustments for DST might be a great idea and useful tool for uniformity of the maps, I have been meaning to update my map, but havn't quite found the time to yet, the boundries are as far as I know perfect, I have updated those frequently, but the colors I havn't settled on yet, dont get me wrong I love the colors I chose, but if its going to be used as a referencial base map, the colors will need to follow paterns, I dont have time right now, I leave for work in less than an hour, perhaps User:TZ master might have a plan for the DST that doesn't involve stripes, He is a new but very intellegent user. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 18:35, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
commons:File:UTC hue4map X region Europe.svg gives an example, Algeria uses FF0000, while the EU countries on CET use CC0000 as color. Below is a table showing colors with V = S = 100, and one column with V=80. DST countries could use V=80. UTC hue4map X region Europe.svg uses this model. But there are of course other ways for variation. I suggest just start with the basic colors and then fill the DST colors. No need to make it 100% the best in the beginning, it can evolve.
primary color (V=100,S=100) | primary zones | secondary color (V=80)
FF0000 | Red | UTC+00:00, UTC+06, UTC+12, UTC-06 | CC0000
FF8000 | UTC+06:30 (Burma) | CC6600
FFFF00 | Yellow | UTC+01:00, UTC+07, UTC-05, UTC-11 | CCCC00
80FF00 | UTC-04:30 (Venezuela) | 66CC00
00FF00 | Green | UTC+02:00, UTC+08, UTC-04, UTC-10 | 00CC00
00FFFF | Cyan | UTC+03:00, UTC+09, UTC-03, UTC-09 | 00CCCC
0080FF | UTC+03:30 (Iran) | 0066CC
0000FF | Blue | UTC+04:00, UTC+08, UTC-02, UTC-08 | 0000CC
8000FF | UTC+04:30 (Afghanistan, Iran DST) | 6600CC
FF00FF | Magenta | UTC+05:00, UTC+08, UTC-01, UTC-07 | CC00CC
FF0080 | UTC+05:30 (India) | CC0066 |
TZ master (talk) 20:40, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
I like that Idea, we could do the half way between the hours color until a permanent solution is found, Thank You TZ. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 20:43, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
I had that idea once, but half way does not work well, since half way between UTC+3 and UTC+4 is UTC+3:30, but this has nothing to do with DST. So even if half way is used one needs to alter another parameter apart from hue. The model is HSV that leaves S and V for DST markation. On the Indiana map I wanted to have different colors for two hues, the map only uses UTC-6 (hue=0 ~ red) and UTC-5 (hue=60 ~ yellow), see commons:File:UTC TZ hue4map USA-IN.svg. TZ master (talk) 20:50, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Your Right, maybe stripes are the best way to go with this, or what you did with Brazil, and just darken the color of the DST regions. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 20:54, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
I think stripes would be the most correct, but it may be problematic to see on a map if the area is small and it may be problematic to create, in SVG I found no easy way, whereas for other colors I just change the color code in a text editor. TZ master (talk) 23:26, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, this is a difficult thing, to choose from, now that I understand it I am going to try and fix the antarctica map to match the other hue4 maps, using stripes and correct colors, even if they are just temporary. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 01:31, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Have a look: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File_talk:UTC_hue4map_ATA.png - I used Gimp to analyze the colors, in Gimp I can see HSV values and RGB values at same time. TZ master (talk) 10:29, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
"an encyclopedia like wikipedia should include all that is out there"
Honestly comments like that will be ignored by the closing administrator. I don't have any problems with inclusionism, but that type of "keep everything" inclusionism does make most editors weary of the process. There are many policies and guidelines that prevents Wikipedia from "including everything", mainly because if we do include everything with a source or such, the respectability of the website would be greatly diminished. Clear spam, conflict of interest, news bulletins, tabloid junk, and so forth would be added and many people would avoid or leave wikipedia if that was to happen. Be careful what you say next time in AFDs. You do have potential in this project, and though I'm considered to be a pure deletionist (which I'm really not, I just have a stricter guideline for policies) I supported many inclusionists before. Thanks Secret account 06:05, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- I appologize for such a delay in my responce, yesterday was a very busy day for me I didn't get a chance to give my feedback. I never expected my comment to carry much weight, I instead was simply wanted to just put my little Point of View out there, give people something to think about, maybe that wasn't the right place to put it, but I stand by what I wrote, I like what I put, many people are amazed we have 3,765,302 pages in our language alone, but I know there is so much more out there that could be included on our website, deletionpedia has archived only 62,000, thats not even a fraction of whats been erased. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 18:29, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
