The FSS Oslo is launched from Finnsmark spacedock, and makes contact with aliens 1,700 Lightyears away.
Summary[edit]
At Finnsmark Spacedock, the FSS Oslo is awaiting launch. On the bridge, Captain Vazmarken and Commander Axel come out of the turbolift. They are amazed by it’s futuristic appearance. Vazmarken then gives orders for the rest of the crew to come on foot or by teleporter. He then gives the order to leave Spacedock.
On the Oslo’s shakedown cruise, they spot an unidentified alien ship moving towards Van Maanen’s Star, a solitary white dwarf. They persue it at maximum velocity – 49 Lightyears per hour. The unidentified alien ship then shears away from the star, and the Oslo does the same – with both speeding towards star Hipparcos 55733, a red giant star, at hundreds of lightyears per hour.
10 minutes from the system, the Oslo’s sensors lose contact with the ship. Axel then determines that the ship was heading towards the third planet in the system, Hipparcos 55733 III. They then proceed to the planet, and assume orbit. General Patrick, Vazmarken, and Walter then teleport down to the surface, leaving Hans in command.
On the surface, the away team makes contact with the Hipparcosians, a species of orange-skinned aliens. The aliens explain that the expanding Hipparcos 55733 star will eventually swallow up that world, and they are seeking knowledge and transport aboard alien ships, including the Oslo. One of the aliens wants passage aboard the Oslo, and Vamarken accepts the offer. They subsequently scan the archives of the Oslo, and the alien and away team beam up to the Oslo. They then leave orbit, since their mission of exploration has just begun.

Background Information[edit]
- This is the first episode of GI Joe: The Final Frontier. However, it is not the first appearence of the bridge personnel. They all appeared in GI Joe X: Revenge of the Renegade Russians, Episode III.
- When General Patrick emerges from the turbolift, he is wearing the same sunglasses he wore in the last scene of GI Joe X, even though this takes place 2 years later.
- The 10-pad teleporter room is only featured in this episode. In all subsequent episodes, the teleporter room has 4 pads.
