This was created in an attempt to find out why the [Show]/[Hide] links extend outside the various infoboxes, as in New Delhi, India and others.

Template:Collapsible list has been altered so that the width is kept to 96% rather than 100%. This evidently brings the [Show]/[Hide] links within the borders of most of the affected infoboxes in Internet Explorer web browsers.

The India article's Template:Infobox Country is one known exception to this. After altering the width parameter in the Collapsible list template to 96%, I went back to the India article. That infobox has three collapsible lists:

1. Official languages
2. Constitutional languages
3. Non-numbered Footnotes (at the bottom)

After the width of the Collapsible list template was reduced to 96%, two of these three lists looked okay. The [Show]/[Hide] links were within the right edge of the infobox. The #3 list was well-within the edge, and the #1 list was barely within the edge. The #2 list, what is now titled Constitutional languages, was still hanging well outside the right edge of the infobox (by the way, this is true for both IE7 and IE8 – Firefox does not have the ability to sense this defect).

As can be seen at this edit link, the name of the #2 collapsible list was longer, Constitutionally recognised languages, and it contained a line break, <br />, between "recognised" and "languages". Rather than once again trying to get the width of the Collapsible list template reduced more, I instead tried several things locally in the India article. The result was that the line break was causing the [Show]/[Hide] link to hang over the right edge of the infobox. I removed the line break, but this of course increased the width of the first column and significantly increased the overall width of the infobox. That is when I shortened the name to Constitutional languages. This decreased the overall width of the infobox back approximately to what it had been before taking out the line break. And the [Show]/[Hide] link was then just inside the right edge of the infobox in the same manner as the Official languages collapsible list.

As noted on the India discussion page, one of the involved editors, SpacemanSpiff, accepted the changes with the reservation that there were probably other infoboxes with collapsible lists that had long names and line breaks. So maybe the Collapsible list template still needs repair?

It is important to remember that Internet Explorer is a popular web browser and used by a significant number of Wikipedia readers.
