The NSW Association of Greeks from Constantinople and Asia Minor Inc. (Australia) was founded in 1972 to serve as a cultural and advocacy organisation for Greeks originating from Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul, Turkey) and Asia Minor. The Association plays a vital role in preserving and promoting the heritage of these regions within Australia, celebrating their rich cultural traditions, history, and food.
A key aspect of the Association's work is advocating for the rights of the Greek minority in Constantinople and Asia Minor. It has been influential in raising awareness of issues affecting these communities. One of its notable contributions was its support for the promotion of the film Politiki Kouzina (The Cuisine of Istanbul), directed by Tassos Boulmetis. The Association hosted the film's launch in 2004 at Leichhardt Town Hall, helping to highlight the unique culinary and cultural traditions of Constantinople and Asia Minor.
In addition to its cultural advocacy, the Association is also involved in charitable activities, supporting various philanthropic efforts for the Greek community from these regions. It has donated to various causes and supported initiatives aimed at helping people in need, both within Australia and abroad.
The Association maintains an active online presence, including a Facebook page and group, where members and supporters can connect, share information, and continue to celebrate their heritage.
