Amiibo
[edit]Amiibo is a series of toys-to-life figurines and cards introduced in November 2014. Using near field communication (NFC), Amiibo are compatible with the Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch gaming platforms and potentially allow data to be transferred in and out of games and across multiple platforms.
Arcade hardware
[edit]Since 1973, Nintendo has produced and released a number of arcade games, both on dedicated machines and general purpose arcade cabinets.
- The Nintendo VS. System is an arcade machine introduced in 1984, designed for two-player competitive play using the VS. UniSystem or VS. DualSystem.
- The PlayChoice-10 is a 1986 arcade machine which can contain up to 10 different games otherwise available on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
- The Super Famicom Box is a Japan-only video game system that was only available for installation in hotel rooms in the early 1990s.
- The Nintendo Super System is an arcade system used to preview Super Nintendo Entertainment System games in the United States.
