About WikiVandalism

[edit]

WikiVandalism is the Wikipedia equivalent of vandalism.

Types of WikiVandalism

[edit]

Doodling

[edit]

When a user types nonsensical,non-related text into an article, it is called doodling. A common example of doodling is "So-So wuz heer". Doodlers generally have no malicious intent, but usually doodle out of curiosity or boredom.

Trolling

[edit]

Not all doodles are nonsensical. Some deliberately type misleading, or grossly incorrect information.

Blanking

[edit]

When a user blanks an article or talk page, the action is called blanking.

Attack Edits

[edit]

Attack editing is when an editor makes an edit to a page that attacks a target in some way.

[edit]

Link vandalism is when a user modifies a link to make it appear to lead to one source and it leads to a different source. An example is making a link say http://www.cbc.ca when it actually leads to a different website.

Vandalism should be reverted and perhaps reported. You will learn about reverting in the next tutorial.
