Joey of Scotia. I am from West Yorkshire but my Scots roots run deep. I've been a regular visitor across the border for several years. Many of my Scottish ancestors were from Lanarkshire and Ayrshire. I also have roots in Midlothian, Perthshire, Stirlingshire and other counties. I can claim direct descent from the Clans Douglas, Anderson, Todd, Henderson, Armstrong, Hamilton, MacPherson, Lee and some others. Not only am I of Scottish descent, but my paternal ancestry takes me back to Keighley, near Bradford, West Yorkshire. My other ancestries include a small amount of Flemish, Old Norse (Viking) along with distant Irish and Welsh. I also can claim descent from some royal blood, most notably King John of England, Malcolm III of Scotland and Kenneth II of Scotland (Scottish Gaelic: Coinneach mac Mhaoil Chaluim). I am a supporter of English Football Club Leeds United.
I am an occasional Rugby Union player. I support Leeds Rhinos (League) and Carnegie (Union) .
I am a keen traveler and have traveled to several countries, listed in the relevant section.
My contributions here on Wikipedia chiefly concern etymology, especially in the British Isles.
