Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico
[edit]Hola boricua! Saludos desde Camuy, Puerto Rico. I'm trying to expand the article on the resident commissioner of Puerto Rico. I already expanded the Governor of Puerto Rico article, but I can't seem to find any good site to get nice information from. If you know of any good site, please contact me! Thanx!<<Coburn_Pharr>> 18:18, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Boxing pic
[edit]Hi from a mild Bristol. Normal daytime temp is 7C (44F) for January, today the forecast is cloudy and rainy but a very mild 11C (52F). I couldn't put your pic on until the copyright is clear and I don't see how you find that out without writing to her. She might say use it how you like with no restrictions in which case it's public domain, or there might restrictions on its use that you can tell me about. Sorry to be a bit negative! Hola!
[edit]Hola Antonio! Soy Julie!
Saludos, Julie.

Protection of Rick Aviles
[edit]According to [1] you protected Rick Aviles without going through Wikipedia:Protection policy:
- 2) Do not protect a page you are involved in an edit dispute over.
- 3) Add {{protected}} (or {{vprotected}} for vandalism) to the top of the temporarily protected page and make mention of the protection in the edit summary
- 4) List pages you protect on Wikipedia:Protected page
None of these steps were followed. Care to explain? Cburnett 06:39, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Antonio, I notice that on Cburnett's talk page you said that you didn't protect the page. However, if you look at link [1] that he gives in the above comment, you can see that you did. Why is this? silsor 09:10, Mar 29, 2005 (UTC)

When you're done "do"ing your 100 women, please clarify the "clear blue suit" mentioned on the page above. It seems unlikely that the suit itself is clear, as suits are generally opaque. I am tempted to just omit the word "clear" myself, but as I have not seen the show and have no interest in finding out whether the suit is clear, I would hope you would clean your own article up. That having been said, I thank you very heartily for this excellent contribution to the wikipedia. I am sure generations to come will value the Jake Morgendorffer page in the wikipedia. Hi. Interestingly, there are more ironical similarities between two accidents: in 1976 and in 1985. Not only planes were very similar, but both accidents occured during localizer approach:1976 initially struck a hill and 1985 struck the forest. You can read (I think, you know this already) a brief description of 1976 here [2] and a brief description of 1985 with a link to pdf with the full report here [3]. However, I'll not add these details into the article, because my English is too bad. 212.199.249.206 10:50, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC) (aka Cmapm)

Heya!
[edit]Hi Antonio!
I actually do not own an aircraft; instead, I use the our Civil Air Patrol Wing's Cessna 172 Skyhawks that we have. We currently have three aircraft: N9824L (which is our hometown favorite), N908CP (which is a newish (I think mid-90's) 172), and N98954, which has been grounded and sold in exchange for a 182 Skylane. I am not quite there yet with my license, either; I still have 40 hours to go (ouch!). As far as flying for a living, I really haven't entertained that thought. I might go into computer science, for that's where my strengths lay, but I think I might be getting called to the ministry as a pastor. As far as airlines go, I like Northwest (although I haven't flown with them for a long time) and American Airlines.
My interests lay with aviation, the United States military (especially the United States Air Force), Christianity, and other assorted things. I'm also participating in the chess championship. My current game is here.
I'm looking forward to hearing more from you! Your father is a swell guy; I can only imagine that his son would be just as great of a person.
Talk to you soon, and God bless! Linuxbeak | Desk 00:59, May 28, 2005 (UTC)

Hi...could you please not file articles in both Category:Canadian people and a Canadian occupational subcategory? The "Canadian people" category is supposed to contain only subcategories; it should not contain any individual articles. Thanks. Bearcat 03:26, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Understood...the reason I mentioned this is because Wikipedia actually has an explicit policy about not overloading articles with too many categories. So she doesn't need to be in "Canadian people", since she's already in a more specific subcategory which denotes her as Canadian. (And, conversely, she wouldn't need to be separately filed under "actors", either, because the same subcategory already covers that information.) Bearcat 21:06, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hola! On his later life: did you notice that I also wrote "more definitive sources would be good"? Of course the two links I dug up are not authoritative, but I think, some more digging might produce better references and more definitive information. Caribbean Wikipedians
[edit]I am interested in setting up a Caribbean Wikipedians' Notice Board. I would like to build some community among those of us who are from Caribbean and others with an interest in the Caribbean. I think that if we work together we could improve coverage of the wider Caribbean. I spoke to Tony and he suggested that I get in touch with you. This idea is just in the formative stages, but if you are interested in helping to develop the idea, let me know. If you are interested, let me know, or you can just start developing the board at Wikipedia:Caribbean Wikipedians' notice board. Guettarda 1 July 2005 02:15 (UTC)
- I am from Trinidad but I am currently in Oklahoma. I agree with you - I believe in defining the Caribbean broadly. We tend to divide by islands, and by languages. I spent 9 months in Puerto Rico (over the course of three years). I was amazed at how similar it was to Trinidad - the biggest difference really was the flat roofs. I'm really glad that you are interested in this idea. Guettarda 1 July 2005 03:51 (UTC)
Does this user account actually exist? If not, you may want to create it. Having the user page even though she doesn't edit is fine, but unless theres a user account there, it might be deleted. Also, you may want to consider removing Category:1998 births, because as far as I know users shouldn't be in the birth year categories. Hedley 2 July 2005 23:09 (UTC)
- A user account is what you are using to edit Wikipedia. If you've forgotten how to create one, log out, then go to register/login. Then, from there, you can create the account. User pages can't be deleted if theres an account there, but if there isn't one, somebody might. Hedley 3 July 2005 11:48 (UTC)

[edit]Hello hermano! I saw your mesage in my talk page. It's great to see so many Puerto Ricans working here in wikipedia. I think slowly Wikipedia has become a great information center on Puerto Rican culture. I've been busy this last days 'cause I've been re-writing articles about Puerto Rico in the Spanish version of wikipedia. It really is a lot of work, and it's kind of boring 'cause over there only pictures from Commons are accepted, and that eliminates fair use images, which are very good :( Anyway, glad to hear from you, and I will be checking to see how the Caribbean "Message Board" grows! :D Take care! <<Coburn_Pharr>> 4 July 2005 00:17 (UTC)

World Champs
[edit]I've noticed and appreciated, about as long as i've worked on WP, your diligence in adding names to the LoPbN tree, and i have the impression that you're also active working on bio articles to a praiseworthy extent. But that's at odds with the way you've been reasserting "world champion" labels on List of people by name: Hom-Hop entries without addressing the objections i've been raising when i remove them. I'm adding your & my summaries about adding & removing them to Talk:List of people by name/Individual Entries#Rm Micro-Bios ("world champion") (under "What Belongs in an Entry besides the Link?", as sort of "the story thus far"), rather than pretend to deal with the policy issue here: The smallest forum where we can be properly address our dispute is one of the talk sub-pages for the principles applicable throughout the tree. You need to show up there if you will be inserting "world champion" in the future.

You're welcome!
[edit]I just saw your message on my own talk page. Thanks for the kind comments. I think the person who challenged the NPOV of the Pryor and Arguello articles didn't know all the facts about Panama Lewis and the black bottle incident. It's a major part of boxing history and absolutely has to be in the articles about the principals in that fight. Looks like Rijker and Martin isn't going to come off, which doesn't surprise me. They should have fought seven years ago, today Sumya Anani would beat the tar out of either one of them, which is why neither of them will go near her. Christy tried that in her prime, we saw what happened. user:Jsc1973
Timetable images
[edit]Hello,
You uploaded a bunch of images of airline timetables and marked them as {{PD}}, saying that timetableimages.com allows users to use them as free. There are a few issues with that:
- If timetableimages.com allowed users to use them for free, the tag would be {{CopyrightedFreeUse}}, not {{PD}}.
- timetableimages.com's copyright statement actually reads as:
You may use our images (marked BL or DZ) on another website. Then please credit them as being from the collections of either Björn Larsson or David Zekria, and preferably provide a link to our site. Thank you! Please note that an image of a timetable or other item marked as belonging to another collector may not be used without prior permission from its owner.
- timetableimages.com doesn't own the copyright to those images in the first place -- the timetables were created by the airlines. There may be a fair use claim on those images, but they are certainly not public domain if created after 1923.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. kmccoy (talk) 17:57, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
- I appreciated your response on my talk page, and your kind words about my user page. :) I've put together a template which I sometimes use on new users' talk pages when I've noticed them uploading many images. I won't include the entire thing here, but it's got some quick tips and you might find it interesting. It's {{UploaderHints}}. I'll be happy to answer any more questions you might have about images, to the best of my ability. :)
- I absolutely loved my time in Puerto Rico. I've been there twice now, once with Bear in the Big Blue House Live and most recently last August with Sesame Street Live. I'll be going back again later this summer, most likely. We were there as tropical storm/hurricane Jeanne hit, and we had no work for a week while the power was out. Fortunately, our hotel had a generator to run the air conditioning in the lobby and the casino (but not the bedrooms!) I also was staying in a hotel near the airport one day when there was a very big boxing match happening. I don't remember who the fighters were, but one was a local favorite and there was a big parade/party in the streets. :)
- I don't really have strong feelings either way about Puerto Rico's statehood or independance -- either way, I think it'll retain its culture and identity separate from the US as a whole. As long as I'm able to visit, I'll be happy. :)
- Nice to talk to you. I've seen the great work of both you and your father around the project (in fact, it was his user page that spurred me into putting the flag images on my user page). It's my pleasure to help clear up any questions on images for you. kmccoy (talk) 09:38, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

Also, Image:Ecuatoriana 727.jpg. I realize that you said you got permission from the photographers to use those photos on Wikipedia, but we need to have them under a more free license -- "used with permission" just isn't enough for us. Boxing image copyright question
[edit]Hey, Antonio,
Unfortunately, if we only have permission for Wikipedia, we can't use the image. Jimbo announced on May 19, 2005 that we would delete any new images uploaded with that condition. The tag is {{permission}}, and if you take a look at that template, you'll see that it says that such images will be deleted. There's also a link to Jimbo's mailing list post on the subject. Sorry about that. :/
kmccoy (talk) 02:48, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
- When you talk to him, you might ask him if he would agree to license it under {{cc-by-sa-2.0}} -- this license allows anyone to use it, but requires that they give credit to him and that if they make a derivative, they must relicense it under the same license. kmccoy (talk) 23:08, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
