From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arsenide carbides or carbide arsenides are compounds containing anions composed of carbide (C4−) and arsenide (As3−). They can be considered as mixed anion compounds. Related compounds include the arsenide silicides, germanide arsenides, and phosphide carbides.

Some of these compounds are what are called MAX phases, where M is a metal and A and X are main group elements. Ratios can be 2:1:1 or 3:2:1.

Another class is perovskite carbides of the form M3AsC.

The bonds between the metal and arsenic can be classified as metallic, but between the metal and carbon are covalent.
