Invino is an original private sale source for wine based in Sonoma, California. Launched in March 2010 by Tony and Danielle Westfall, invino creates online ‘flash’ sales, offering wines from wineries around the world to members, known as Insiders, in limited time, discounted sales events. Called "the Gilt of Wine" by NerdStalker.com,[1] invino has also appeared in Sonoma News, [2] Yahoo Finance, [3] Thrillist, [4] and Philadelphia's CBS Local. [5]
History
[edit]invino was launched in March 2010 by Tony and Danielle Westfall, wine industry entrepreneurs with experience with companies such as Foster's Wine Estates, Trinchero Family Estates, the Sebastiani Family's Viansa Winery & Vineyards, and Wine.com. They began invino because of their network of wine industry contacts and their experience in software, supply chain, marketing and ecommerce.
Marketing Expansion
[edit]In May of 2011, invino named Julia Fox their new vice president of marking and business development. Fox holds a dual MBA in MArketing & Finance from University of California Davis Graduate School of Management and received her bachelor’s degree from University of California, San Diego. She is now responsible for customer acquisition and engagements, as well as strategic partnerships. [6]
Import Program
[edit]On June 30, 2011, invino launched an import program to obtain international wines for their sales. CEO Tony Westfall introduced his import plan to visit small producers throughout major winemaking regions around the globe. [7]
Overview
[edit]invino visitors must be members to access sales. To become a member, a visitor must sign up online, after which he or she may purchase online through flash sales. invino typically activates two new products each day and runs the sale for 24-72 hours, though the sales operate under a first-come, first-served basis. An e-mail is sent to Insiders at the start of each sale, giving members notification of the day’s new products. Orders are usually fulfilled within two business days after the end of the sales events using ground service, though upgrades are available for the customer.
