My name is Carmen Acevedo Butcher. I have a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from the University of Georgia in Athens. Check out my website and blog. I have published a few books and refereed articles on topics in Old English, on Benedict of Nursia, on medieval women mystics, and in linguistics, with Cambridge University Press, Heinle Thomson, Mercer University, and Paraclete Press, for example. I'm currently an associate professor of English and Scholar-in-Residence at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia. I was awarded the 2006 Carnegie Foundation Teacher of the Year award for the state of Georgia. My book on Hildegard has just been released.
