Template too huge

[edit]

This template has grown way too huge. Badagnani 17:39, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Please shorten this template. It goes on already crowded talk pages. There is no reason why it has to explain the whole system for your WikiProject. Template:Chemistry is a good example to follow. —Centrxtalk • 03:42, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've just reworked it and created collapsed sections for the guidelines and comments. Pagrashtak 20:19, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Need TOC

[edit]

On Talk:Ohlone we are keeping booknotes, book reviews for future authors, editors and users. This is to inform them of our decisions. However the Template is hiding the TOC. Can it be turned off? I see it can be viewed by viewing comments, but I think it would be best to leave it outside the Template box. -- meatclerk 19:16, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On Talk:Ohlone we need the TOC. I'd like not to resort to removing the template. Are there any alternatives? --meatclerk 08:00, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

broken code somewhere

[edit]

When this template is used in a banner shell and the article is unassessed, the assessment section breaks. If the article has an assessment rating then only the title line is broken, in that it is missing what class it is. Can someone fix this? You can see an example of it in a banner shell, currently unassessed at Serra Springs (California) Miss Mondegreen | Talk   17:06, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ebyabe was playing around with the template, and this is another of his mistakes. fixed. Shinhan 13:44, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Métis

[edit]

The link to Métis links to an article about mixed-race persons, which is overly broad. However, the alternatives are Métis people (Canada) and Métis people (USA), which seem overly specific. Any suggestions? ناهد/(Nåhed) speak! 12:54, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

template loop

[edit]

This template might lead to a template loop. See e.g. Talk:Valley and Sierra Miwok and press "Show". Debresser (talk) 20:39, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Not caused by this template. The comments subpage Talk:Valley and Sierra Miwok/Comments contained a redirect to the talk page. I've sorted it by blanking the comments page. Martin 21:31, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I'll remember that trick. Debresser (talk) 21:48, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Change Footnote 1 from: Luther Addison, 1988, The Story of Wise County, p. 6. to Luther F. Addington, 1956, The Story of Wise County (Virginia), p.6 Neurolurker (talk) 18:47, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

REASON: Author's name is misspelled; book title is incomplete (there is also a Wise County, Texas). I have a copy of Addington's book, copyright date 1956, at hand.

Not done: this is the talk page for discussing improvements to the template {{WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America}}. Please make your request at the talk page for the article concerned. — JJMC89(T·C) 20:15, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America/Anishinaabe doesn't show importance rating

[edit]

Crossposting this from Template_talk:WikiProject_Indigenous_peoples_of_North_America/Anishinaabe:

I noticed what I believe to be a bug with this template. When {{NorthAmNative/Anishinaabe}} is used, it suppresses any |importance rating, causing it to appear as ??? importance no matter what |importance is set to. This can be fixed by instead using the format {{NorthAmNative|anishinaabe=yes}}, which would render this template redundant. Has anyone got a way to fix this apparent bug? If not I'll be nominating this template for deletion and replacing all instances of {{NorthAmNative/Anishinaabe}} with {{NorthAmNative|anishinaabe=yes}}. — Preceding unsigned comment added by James Hyett (talkcontribs) 15:59, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@James Hyett: On which pages is this happening? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:59, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Redrose64: I noticed it as I was doing upkeep of the tag on Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (see this older revision of the Talk page before I changed it to use |anishinaabe=yes), but for another current example, take a look at Talk:Zebulon Pike, where in the source it's ranked importance=low, but the importance ranking does not appear on the banner itself.James Hyett (talk) 18:14, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see what's happening. These pages are (or were) using {{NorthAmNative/Anishinaabe|class=C|importance=Mid}} and {{WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America/Anishinaabe|class=C|importance=low}} - the first is a redirect to {{WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America/Anishinaabe}} which itself is a wrapper for {{NorthAmNative}} (and has been for over eleven years), setting |anishinaabe=yes and passing through only the following parameters: |small=|category=|listas=|class=. It therefore has no code involving importance - but even if it did, that would be the importance specific to Anishinaabe and not to Indigenous peoples of North America taken as a whole; and {{WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America}} does not have an Anishinaabe-specific importance parameter.
These pages should have been using {{WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America|anishinaabe=yes|class=C|importance=low}} or similar. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:12, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
For sure! So I'm wondering what purpose {{NorthAmNative/Anishinaabe}} serves and whether it would be better to just delete it and replace all instances of it with {{NorthAmNative|aanishinaabe=yes}} banners.James Hyett (talk) 19:16, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, with "anishinaabe" spelled correctly...James Hyett (talk) 19:18, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
