Months (and days)?
[edit]Is there a way to implement months or days in the timeline? Even without labels, or if we had to use decimals, the ability to have an item end halfway through a year would be amazing. — HTGS (talk) 07:07, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- It would be great to have centuries and decades with the ability to turn years off. We would get far greater timespans in a standard window width and vast array of possible use cases. Now the maximum is at around 80 years, and the view gets a bit cluttered with the all the years visible. Still a great template. -- Rakkaus-muki-2 (talk) 15:53, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

– This is not the only or main timeline template; there are several other generic templates for different kinds of timeline for use in different context, such as Template:Sidebar timeline to create a sidebar; this one creates a navbox. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 19:33, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, have to agree, this is probably not the right name for this template. --Izno (talk) 20:15, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed. Sensible move. — HTGS (talk) 20:55, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- Support, this is a more accurate name. Thingofme (talk) 10:29, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- Support per reasons listed by nominator. Paintspot Infez (talk) 22:44, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- Support with making the base name a {{Template disambiguation}} page per nom. After moving the page, the previous name should not be a redirect but should be a disambiguion page. Gonnym (talk) 13:45, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
Limited to just a few decades
[edit]This template is limited to just a few decades, depending on the viewer's skin and whether images are used at left and right. It would be helpful to remove the individual years and just show decades. See {{Skorenovac}} for an example. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:24, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
Dark mode
[edit]It seems that this template is VERY incompatible with dark mode. Does anyone have input on how this template should look in dark mode ? —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 12:48, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- I've added a few compatibility changes to try to make the template work better with dark mode, but it hasn't changed much, as far as I can see. I used the unsophisticated "color:inherit"; something CSS-related that checks the background may work better. One possible problem is at Module:Navbox/styles.css, where the background is set to "transparent". This setting goes against the recommendations at the MediaWiki dark mode site; I have removed it from many templates to improve dark mode compatibility. Another possible problem that I haven't tracked down is which are being applied to the bold title cells on the left. I haven't tracked down why that happens. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:19, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
background: inherit !important; color: inherit !important;
