Availability periods

[edit]

We need the possibility of having several intervals of availability. For example, Ninjas were available from 1998–2000 and now again in 2011.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Leandrod (talkcontribs) 04:32, 6 January 2011

I have added the ability to have a second "to" and "from" year in a sandbox version. The template is functional, but I was wondering if there were any other improvements needed in this area (i.e. either a larger - but still limited - possible number of intervals of availability, or removing the "two" and "from" parameters altogether, and handling the availability intervals in the same way that the years active parameter is done for musical artists, where the editor puts in the dashes etc. themselves. The latter option would allow more flexibility but slightly more work when inserting the infobox. This could also be used to better show when the theme was only available in one year - which is true of several themes with articles - although there are other ways of doing this).gz33 (talk) 05:01, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Id say go for the more flexible option if you think that multiple availability is going to be a problem. Also the above comment about the Ninja theme is irrelavent because Ninjago is seperate. Salavat (talk) 05:28, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Only problem is, changing to that setup will mean all themes have to be changed, since their infoboxes will be broken. Unless I add an extra parameter and keep the old one while I change them over... Hold on gz33 (talk) 05:34, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Now as well as being able to enter the start and end years the old way, you can also format it yourself for cases where, for example, the theme was only available for one year, or where there have been multiple availability periods for the theme. Still only in the sandbox though.gz33 (talk) 06:04, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Kool, dont forget to update the documentation when you move it out of the sandbox. Salavat (talk) 06:09, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will finish the documentation and move template over tomorrow. gz33 (talk) 06:47, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Licensed from"

[edit]

I suppose this is to indicate who owns the underlying theme, but it seems odd to state that Lego is licensing some theme from themselves. Either the section need to be reworked ("licensed from" to "brand owner" or something) or it need to be clear that the space can be left blank when the theme is fully owned by Lego. 128.151.71.7 (talk) 17:35, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
