- Did you know that Ethical Oil, a book that argues in favour of the Athabasca oil sands, won the National Business Book Award in 2011?

- Looks good. I saw the story on the ads in the Calgary Herald sometime back. Didn't realize they were based off a book. As a note, while spot checking the references, I noticed in the Financial Post ref (currently #10), it was noted that police had to be called out to one of Levant's signings in Saskatoon. If that can be expanded on, it might become an interesting real-world example of how controversial the topic is. Cheers, Resolute 03:36, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

- If we could find a way to use the latter hook (I'm aware of the discussion about sourcing it at Resolute's talk page), I'd prefer it. It is hardly unusual or interesting, in and of itself, that books win awards, especially from organizations predisposed to agree with their theses (if some environmental organization, on the other hand, gave it the award ... now, that would be interesting). As it is this is a classic case of burying the lede. Daniel Case (talk) 04:09, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, Daniel, thanks for your comment. I agree the current hook is somewhat dull. I found a primary source (third paragraph) for the incident, but the third-party source is a dead link... Can't find anything else of substance. Do you have any suggestions for an ALT hook? Cheers - CharlieEchoTango 04:40, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
- And for what it's worth, the NBBA is fairly open to any POV, I find. See No Logo, hardly pro-business, yet it won the 2001 award. And look at the 2008 award, Stupid to the Last Drop: How Alberta Is Bringing Environmental Armageddon to Canada (And Doesn't Seem to Care)! Best, CharlieEchoTango 05:10, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
