does anyone know who actually plays linebacker for the lions? there's only one LB left on this roster.--Alhutch 15:53, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Request
Hi when editing this template, please add the same information to the appropriate Lions season article (currently 2009 Detroit Lions season), with a reliable source of course. Thanks. TomCat4680 (talk) 13:02, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
2009 NFL Draft: Don't jump the gun!
Don't fill out the draft chart until its completely over. The Matt Stafford deal is NOT official and won't be until the first pick is made. (as noted here). See also [1]. TomCat4680 (talk) 07:01, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
- See the discussion and history of the Dolphins roster at this time last year; it was decided to put Long on the roster once he signed. As per 2009 Lions season, is every roster move that notable? There's no need to put half of the minor roster moves on the 2009 Lions page. There's also no need to wait to fill out the draft chart "until the draft is over." Once the picks are made, they're made. Pats1 T/C 12:15, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Unsigned draft picks
why are unsigned draft picks listed as Active players? 99.141.238.240 (talk) 15:50, 30 April 2009 (UTC) Mike
- Because if we list them separately to the right, no one will see them and we'll have 32 templates having people add rookies to them everyday. We just don't feel like having Stafford over there on the right, then having people be like "WHERE'S STAFFORD?!?!1" and add him to the QBs section too.►Chris NelsonHolla! 16:20, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Chris, but shouldn't there be a designation for unsigned draft picks? Maybe an asterisk or listed inside brackets. The active NFL roster limit is currently at 80. 99.141.238.240 (talk) 16:43, 30 April 2009 (UTC) Mike
- I suppose we could make a separate category in the count section (like 80 active, 0 inactive, 8 unsigned picks). Pats1 T/C 20:11, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's not really necessary though. The guys unsigned during camp/preseason will be few (either Caleb Campbell types or high-pick holdouts) so it won't be hard to separate out. Our method might not technically be correct but it sure as hell is much easier.►Chris NelsonHolla! 20:39, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with the idea to just keep them counting as active, because people are just so stupid it would happen everyday.--Giants27 T/C 23:52, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Question
I was reading this interesting article about NFL QB's (it was a recent article, about a day old) and it was talking about players success in comparison to where they were drafted from. Anyways, it mentioned this guy who is apparantly a QB on the lions roster from a D-III school who as an UDFA (Justin Goltz, From Occidental College). I've never heard of him before. I found the article here. Is the article wrong or is this guy really on the roster?RF23 (talk) 21:22, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- I found more about him here, But KFFL lists him as a free agent. RF23 (talk) 21:53, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- No, he's not. I do not suggest using sources like that. Pats1 T/C 02:15, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Detroit News isn't a reliable source? Since when? TomCat4680 (talk) 09:37, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- I mean using an article that mentions the player. Generally you want an article that mentions the transaction, or just use, you know, the roster itself. Pats1 T/C 13:52, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- I looked into it more and turns out he was an UDFA who was just invited to the Rookie mini-camp, but was not signed. RF23 (talk) 20:38, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
