[edit]

Add | link alias-football = North Macedonia {{{mw|}}} national {{{age|}}} football team to correct the links for {{fb}} (similar to Template:Country data FR Yugoslavia). Thanks, S.A. Julio (talk) 05:29, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

 Done Cabayi (talk) 07:27, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@S.A. Julio and Cabayi: It doesn't work. Code {{fb|Macedonia}} creates  Macedonia. Maiō T. (talk) 12:43, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Maiō T., And {{fb|North Macedonia}} creates  North Macedonia. The country's name has changed, not its historical names used prior to this spring. Cabayi (talk) 13:59, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Cabayi, I believe they are referring to the link being a redirect (not the display text) because the parameter | altvar = {{{altvar|}}} also needs to be present. Could this be added? Thanks, S.A. Julio (talk) 14:45, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 Done S.A. Julio, OK? Cabayi (talk) 14:59, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Cabayi, great thanks! S.A. Julio (talk) 23:07, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove | redir1 = MKD, and renumber redir2 to redir1, as the redirect Template:Country data MKD has now been retargeted. Thanks, S.A. Julio (talk) 03:21, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

 Done Cabayi (talk) 07:34, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@S.A. Julio and Cabayi: Redirection of Country data MKD to North Macedonia causes problems in old articles. For example, see North Macedonia in EuroBasket 2011! I think MKD must stay as a redirect of "old" Macedonia. Maiō T. (talk) 18:47, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Maiō T.: Maybe a bot could be run to fix these old instances in templates. However as 'MKD' is the current country code, it should redirect to the proper template for North Macedonia. S.A. Julio (talk) 23:06, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You know, this is exactly what sandboxes are designed for. I have implemented your changes at Template:Country data Macedonia/sandbox. Please confirm that this matches your request? Could you explain the rationale for these changes, and are any of them likely to be controversial at all? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 04:27, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Alias = Republic of Macedonia

[edit]

@S.A. Julio: Please undo your November edit. The alias must stay as "Republic of Macedonia" because in this article is currently displayed an incorrect country name (hover the mouse over the Macedonian flag in the first line). Maiō T. (talk) 21:00, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Maiō T.: Does it make that much of a difference? Because for logged out users, mw:Page Previews is enabled by default (which will be shown instead of mouseover text), so they'll see the article title even if we linked to "Republic of Macedonia" (as the software follows redirects). For example, look at the flagicon at Template:Country data Macedonia/sandbox#Example usage when logged out. S.A. Julio (talk) 21:15, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
