Renaming categories
[edit]Hi, you seem to have created Category:Caribbean national under-20 association football teams and moved the contents of Category:Caribbean national under-20 football teams into it. This appears to be OK, but in future please follow the process at WP:CFD. ThIs allows other editors to review the proposal, and the process automatically alerts the relevant Wikiprojects aboutthe proposed change. It also saves you work, as a bot will process the changes to the member articles. – Fayenatic London 23:46, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london: WP:CFD looks really hard for me. And I still have one category to move:
- Category:Caribbean national under-23 football teams — please add "association" like the following:
- Category:Caribbean national under-20 association football teams
- Category:Caribbean national under-17 association football teams
- Thanks, Maiō T. (talk) 17:19, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
- Try it sometime; it comes with practice! The instructions on the CFD page should work, so let me know if you have any problems. I don't use them any more, as I do it from memory these days. This is what I typed on the category page: {{subst:cfr-speedy|Caribbean national under-23 association football teams}}. The resulting template gives you the text to paste onto the Speedy renaming page; all you have to add is the specific justification. (I did it already, see WP:CFDS.)
- Giving a justification for the speedy process is a bit technical. It's probably easier to make a full nomination, using {{subst:cfr|Caribbean national under-23 association football teams}} on the category page. The resulting template will have a link to the daily CFD log and text for you to paste there. If the case fits the speedy criteria, you can get a quick result just the same.
- By the way, to make a link to a category, just add a colon inside the square brackets. Here's one: Category:Caribbean national under-23 football teams. – Fayenatic London 20:52, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london: Wow !!! The colon inside the square brackets is like a miracle !!! Definitely, sometime I'll try to move a category by myself. Thanks, Maiō T. (talk) 21:17, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
- Well done for listing U-19 categories at WP:CFDS! I inserted the code for the reason, C2D. Once you have nominated one with a reason and a signature, you can list others underneath (rather than above) with just the old and new names.
- Would you like to also tag and list the similar 2011 to 2013 categories within Category:UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship? – Fayenatic London 07:27, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london: Wow !!! The colon inside the square brackets is like a miracle !!! Definitely, sometime I'll try to move a category by myself. Thanks, Maiō T. (talk) 21:17, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, tough luck, I had assumed that the articles were named consistently. The speedy page has strict criteria, otherwise renaming might happen too quickly for interested editors to see the notice.
- No harm done, anyway. Let me know if you need help to start a full CfD discussion instead. – Fayenatic London 14:16, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Team disambiguations
[edit]Hello. I see that you are retargetting redirects from teams to disambiguation pages. Firstly, please be careful not to leave malplaced disambiguation pages: if there is no primary topic then the disambiguation page should be at the base name, not a redirect to it. Secondly, completing each change involves fixing the pages which link to the title. For example, the articles, templates, etc. listed at Special:WhatLinksHere/Canada national basketball team need to be edited to link instead to the correct specific article such as Canada men's national basketball team. To keep the task manageable, it may be best to finish the job for the pages which have already moved before continuing to move other pages. Certes (talk) 18:22, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers logo.png. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Plural form
[edit]Why did you mass change "were" to "was" in the ice hockey IIHF tournaments that consisted of two tournaments? For example "The 2018 IIHF U18 World Championship Division I was two international under-18 ice hockey tournaments organised by the IIHF", OBVIOUSLY you cannot use "was" with plural form "tournaments" so you broke grammar in many articles, it should be "were". Snowflake91 (talk) 11:02, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry Snowflake, but "Division was" is correct in English. What follows after "was" is irrelevant. Google it! Maiō T. (talk) 15:58, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- Of course "division was" would be correct, but "was tournaments" is not correct – the whole sentence needs to be taken into consideration, not just the first word after "division". Snowflake91 (talk) 16:21, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Snowflake91: I think "division was two tournaments" is correct. Also correct should be "two tournaments were division". Simply, the left side takes precedence over the right. Anyway, I'm gonna post this problem on VPT. Maiō T. (talk) 17:35, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

File renames
[edit]Hey, thanks for the renames. But some renames are unnecessary, per WP:FMNN. I accidentally renamed one by a misclick, but edit summary was provided. Nonetheless, just be extra careful while requesting renames. The placement of year is not a needed rename. Thanks and happy editing. — The Herald (Benison) (talk) 13:59, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Okay Benison, but the WP:FNC#6 could take precedence. Almost all Asian basketball championships file names begin with a year. In the category, all those logos are listed in the section 0-9, only one logo is hidden under the letter F. Won't you change your mind? Maiō T. (talk) 15:50, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm, if the category shows that, then we can proceed so. — The Herald (Benison) (talk) 16:12, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
stub templates
[edit]The rules state that 2 empty rows needed before the stub template(s) - Wikipedia:STUBSPACING. "Leave two blank lines between the first stub template and whatever precedes it. " Pelmeen10 (talk) 19:15, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- Okay Pelmeen10, but I can't fix those 300 stubs right now. In the future, when I come across such an article, I will fix it. Maiō T. (talk) 20:05, 18 August 2024 (UTC)

File:2023 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:2023 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship logo.png. But I believe that my version did not have any problem, only more enlarge the photo is okay, so using CSD F1 to remove your photo. I'm sorry and if you have any problem, welcome discuss with me. Thanks Stevencocoboy (talk) 03:55, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Stevencocoboy: Sorry Steven, but your image has really blurred text. In my image, the letters have sharp edges. Open both files in the browser in two tabs next to each other and then click from one tab to another and back and again and again and you should see the difference. JPG is quite a bad format, especially if the image is not original. (See the file history: a bot has reduced your original image.) So I think if there was a voting on which image is better, mine would win. Maiō T. (talk) 10:35, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your opinion. But the pattern and the word in picture are very clear. I believe that we should clearly viewing that. I'm sorry and hopefully you can considerate. Thanks. Stevencocoboy (talk) 02:11, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Stevencocoboy: We could agree on a compromise solution: I'll tag my PNG image with
{{db-g7}}
and also upload a new version of your JPG image with cleaner letter edges. Could it be? And promise me that you will never upload a logo in JPG format again. Maiō T. (talk) 10:30, 3 October 2024 (UTC)- Can you send the new version picture for me? I want to see it. Thanks. Stevencocoboy (talk) 02:26, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
