NVPI certs

[edit]

Lately, the link for NVPI certifications has been changed again (see here), and from now on, you need to select the year to search for requested certifications (there is no longer the option "alle jaargangen" - all the years).

About discography articles featuring Dutch certs, I would like to know if could have some way to search these ones without insert a year, due to be hard-working to guess this one when an album or song were certified. LuanCampSouza93 (talk) 16:33, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@LuanCampSouza93: I changed the URL for Netherlands as a first step. The guide text displayed is currently wrong.
I don't see any way to select "all years", so the only thing we can do now is to make |certyear= mandatory. I'll wait for some more input before making it so.
For the future, such discussions belong at Template talk:Cite certification, although it doesn't hurt to leave a note here as well since I think most editors frequent this page more often. Muhandes (talk) 12:14, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Have you ever tried this one? --Milkypine (talk) 17:13, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Milkypine: I didn't know of it's existence, thanks for pointing it out. It seems to be official and other than the latest certifications, identical to the other database. LuanCampSouza93 ? Muhandes (talk) 17:19, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Milkypine: I also didn't know of it's existence. I think it can be useful, more than the previous link. Thank you very much. LuanCampSouza93 (talk) 14:07, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be official and it also checks out to have the same certifications, so I agree.  Done Muhandes (talk) 14:28, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@LuanCampSouza93 and Milkypine: With more experimentation I found out this also works: https://www.goudplatina.nl/database?year=2022&type=Album&search=Future+Nostaliga so I can implement a direct link without a search. I'll try to find time for this next week. --Muhandes (talk) 14:36, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, can anyone inform me about this action? On this edit, I see a reference from Dropbox instead of Australian Recording Industry Association website. I think that Dropbox can't be a valid source. NameGame (talk) 20:29, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dropbox links come directly from ARIA Charts. https://www.aria.com.au/accreditations when you click on the links below it goes directly to those dropbox files. They supply it. Dhoffryn (talk) 20:33, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Dhoffryn Now I got it. By the way, in my viewpoint, it is bizarre! they can use their own website instead of a cloud service. Thank you for your rapid respond. NameGame (talk) 20:42, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Before they did have a website of their own where they have listed everything and it made more sense (probably you can find find it through web archive). But eventually they have switched it off to dropbox links. Which is sometimes confusing to some editors. But stuff like this is often brought to attention amongst music editors. Dhoffryn (talk) 20:48, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The "ARIA" is just promoting Dropbox at this time. that's all it. haha XD. NameGame (talk) 20:53, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Since you are the one millionth person to ask this, perhaps someone can come out with a way to include this in the citation? We can certainly add |via=Dropbox, but I'm not sure that will do the job. Muhandes (talk) 08:00, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Polish certs

[edit]

Apparently, the former ZPAV site featuring Polish certs went down and, from now, only the latest one is working. I don't know if there's some way to adjust command for certs before 2023, when the new site was introduced. If possible, I think it would help a lot. LuanCampSouza93 (talk) 17:32, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@LuanCampSouza93: Many of those pages are available on archive. A list is available here: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://bestsellery.zpav.pl/wyroznienia/*
This means we may be able to automatically direct to an appropriate archive, the same way we do for old French certifications. It is no small task mainly because we need to find an appropriate archive for each combination of award/type/certyear.
The URL follows this structure: http://bestsellery.zpav.pl/wyroznienia/{{#switch:{{{award|}}}||Gold=zlote|Platinum=platynowe|Diamond=diamentowe}}plyty/{{#switch:{{{type|}}}|album|single|jazz=cd|video=dvd|cd}}/archiwum.php?year={{{certyear|}}}.
For example Gold/Album/2020 is http://bestsellery.zpav.pl/wyroznienia/zloteplyty/cd/archiwum.php?year=2020
Now we need to find an appropriate archive id. The latest archive is https://web.archive.org/web/20241102083949/http://bestsellery.zpav.pl/wyroznienia/zloteplyty/cd/archiwum.php?year=2020 and the archive id is 20241102083949.
This needs to be repeated for every combination, so 3 × 2 × 28 = 198 times, (zlote/platynowe/diamentowe, cd/dvd, 1995-2022).
Once we have that data, I can implement the rest. If this is of interest to you, you can start collecting the data. Otherwise, it will need to wait until someone has free time to do it.
ETA: I created a page for collecting this data: Template talk:Cite certification/zpav archive. Anyone who wants to help can start filling the table. Muhandes (talk) 16:57, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just remind, Polish certification updated in January 2025 (see here). --Milkypine (talk) 04:42, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Milkypine: Why is this a "remind"? did anyone mention it before? I usually not these things. I notice even Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry wasn't updated yet. I'll add these to my TDL. I notice Edk finished the archive table (thanks!), too bad they didn't let us know. Muhandes (talk) 08:52, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Muhandes:Sorry for my poor choice of words. I just notice the certification change, and instead of starting a new topic, it's more appropriate to mention here that ZPAV has been updated. --Milkypine (talk) 13:35, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@LuanCampSouza93:  Done adding the archives. Thanks Edk for helping on listing the archives. Muhandes (talk) 12:16, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Break to discuss the new certification levels

[edit]

@Milkypine: I updated Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry#Certifications and awards with the new data. However, there is no longer a unit threshold for singles, and the template only supports units. The lack of a unit threshold has been the case since March 2017, but we previously overlooked it since there was still some unit threshold available. After reading the guidelines more carefully, it seems misleading to present it that way.

In terms of possible solutions, we could display the revenue, but inflation poses a significant challenge. Perhaps the certification year should also be displayed to account for this. By the way, I believe early RIAA certifications used dollars instead of units too. Looking for more input. --Muhandes (talk) 14:11, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Italian certs

[edit]

Italian certification thresholds for songs have been increased by FIMI to 100k (Gold) and 200k (Platinum) starting in January 2025 (see also). France3c0 (talk) 14:21, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@France3c0:  Done. See for example Balorda nostalgia. Muhandes (talk) 17:11, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

German certifications

[edit]

According to this file from Bundesverband Musikindustrie, Coldplay's "Paradise" was certified Platinum for 600,000 units sold, but the current template only shows 300,000. I'm sending this because there was a discussion about it months ago and no one made the correction. GustavoCza (talkcontribs) 20:13, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Australian certifications

[edit]

The Australian Recording Industry Association has recently added a Silver award for albums that sold 20,000 units in the country. The criteria are as it follows:

  • Only issued in relation to product distributed by ARIA members.
  • Only awarded to albums by Australian artists.
  • 20,000 unit threshold needs to be achieved within three years of the album’s initial release.
  • Only applicable to albums released after 1 January 2021.
  • All other details as per the Gold and Platinum Awards below.
