Status of the tool?

[edit]

@Tim1357: What is the status of this tool? It appears that it hasn't taken a snapshot of the categories since May 07, 2012. Can it be configured to update on a regular basis? Thanks, Wbm1058 (talk) 21:51, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wbm1058, in the unlikely event you hadn't seen, the tool is collecting data again at a new URL, toollabs:apersonbot/cat-track. Enterprisey (talk!) 19:51, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Enterprisey. No, I hadn't seen (I don't understand why you thought it was likely I had, since you're the first to respond to me here). I completely forgot about my edit to this page and the existence of this template. I see that Template:Backlog transcludes it, so the main purpose seems to be to track the status of maintenance backlogs over time. I went back and reviewed my editing history from 4+ years ago, when I asked the question. I was working on a FIX to Template:Progress box because the Category:Orphaned articles backlog had blown through that template's limits to extend beyond eight years. (That progress box code is now converted to Module:Progress box, so we now support virtually infinite backlogs ;) I'm guessing that I somehow found this template when I looked at Category:Orphaned articles#Progress ([show] the collapsed box) where a manual history of progress is maintained, and thought it would be nice to have an automated progress history... Would be nice to have a link to this tool's report from that page. One of these days I'll turn my attention more to developing better solutions for clearing the orphaned articles backlog... my time is still oversubscribed. – wbm1058 (talk) 21:25, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think I figured you would've seen the template while editing the category page of another backlog, which is quite a stretch. Anyway, I've linked the tool from that page. Enterprisey (talk!) 21:45, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Enterprisey: did this die again? There are far more templates that link here than listed on the tool. --awkwafaba (📥) 02:55, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
