Purpose
[edit]This template is an interface to Module:TaxonItalics, for italicizing the correct parts of the name of a taxon (at the rank of genus or lower).
Usage

– a taxon name to be italicized
|abbreviated =
– set to yes if all but the last element of the name is to be reduced to the first letter of each element (e.g. to C. l. familiaris for input of Canis lupus familiaris)
|linked =
– set to yes if the input taxon name is to be used as the target of a wikilink
|dab =
– set to yes if a parenthesized part of the input taxon name is a disambiguation term rather than a subgenus, so is not to be italicized
