The Problem We All Live With
[edit]- ... that The Problem We All Live With, Norman Rockwell's painting of Ruby Bridges going to school, is currently on display near the Oval Office but could not be hung in a more public area of the White House because it depicts a racial slur?

- Hook: Too long. Interesting, cited. I don't think that image should be on commons, as Rockwell's painting is still copyrighted. ALT1: ... that The Problem We All Live With is on display near the Oval Office, but could not be hung in a public area of the White House because it depicts a racial slur? (still rather long)
- Article: New enough, long enough. Seems neutral. Referencing is good. As noted, one of the images shouldn't be on Commons. Paraphrasing seems fine.
- Summary: Hold pending clarification of image issue and hook. Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:27, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- I have asked at Commons Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:37, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- Have received a reply. Image isn't an issue. Just waiting for feedback on the ALT. Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:15, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- How about ALT2: ... that the Norman Rockwell painting The Problem We All Live With is on display in the White House despite depicting a racial slur? Binksternet (talk) 15:03, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- I'd rather err on the side of explaining what the painting is, because a lot more people are going to get the picture in mind when they hear "Norman Rockwell Ruby Bridges" than its title. 200 characters is the limit for a hook, right? How about ALT3: ... that The Problem We All Live With, Norman Rockwell's painting of Ruby Bridges going to school, could not be hung in a public area of the White House because it depicts a racial slur? –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 15:13, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- You could delete the artist's name to make it shorter. Remember the parenthetical (pictured) should be inserted somewhere. Binksternet (talk) 15:50, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- I prefer ALT3. I doubt the image will be used on the main page as it isn't very good at 100px. Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:19, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- That's true. I do think it's important to keep the artist's name though as he and his work are very recognizable. ALT4: ... that Norman Rockwell's The Problem We All Live With could not be displayed in a public area of the White House because of the racial slur painted behind Ruby Bridges? –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 05:52, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
