Staircase model

[edit]

Diagram of the staircase model

  • ALT1:... that the staircase model (pictured) explains why out of large numbers of people living under adverse conditions, only a tiny minority will actually commit acts of terrorism?
  • Reviewed: Mischief Makers, Mira, Mirror, Nitro
  • Comment: I am happy to email the articles "The Staircase to Terrorism" and "Terrorism as a process" to anyone who wants to verify these offline sources. Also I will not be offended if the picture is not accepted as I know it is quite a simple diagram and not exactly the finest quality image.

  • Date and length check out. Original hook checks out in the online citation #2. Offline citation for Alt 1 taken IGF. Image OK. No disambig links, and external links are OK. Re QPQ: the two GA upgrade reviews appear to be OK, but this would be a difficult task for an inexperienced reviewer. The third QPQ, for Mira, Mirror, is inadequate. I suggest that you look at some of the successful reviews on Template talk:Did you know, then improve your Mira, Mirror review, itemising the areas that you have checked as per the list on Template:Did you know nominations/Mira, Mirror. --Storye book (talk) 17:59, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
Only one QPQ is required here for this one nomination. If one of those reviews was OK, then the QPQ requirement is taken care of here. Storye book, did you do a copyvio check on this nomination? — Maile (talk) 22:37, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
@Storye book, ping :). I've fleshed out my review of Mira, Mirror in the meantime while i'm still waiting to hear back from the nominator regarding his QPQ. Freikorp (talk) 06:31, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
  • The Mira, Mirror QPQ is now OK: thank you, Freikorp.
  • @ Maile: Most sources are offline so most copyvio checks as per the DYK toolbox are not possible here. I checked the online book which is cited, and that check showed no copyvio.
  • Good to go.--Storye book (talk) 08:19, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Per Rule D2, each paragraph must have at least one inline citation. Quite a few paragraphs are uncited. Yoninah (talk) 00:51, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
  • The only paragraphs that didn't have citations were the descriptions of the floors in the 'Model' subsection. I thought having citations in there was kind of like having citations in a film plot - not really necessary, but no worries, i've since added inline citations for all of them :). Hope this is good to go now. Freikorp (talk) 04:47, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Although I agree with Yoninah's comment above, I had previously seen that the whole section was already cited at the top, after the phrase "The model involves six floors," and found that acceptable. So as far as I am concerned, the individual paragraphs were by implication already cited. I was aware that presentation could be improved, and this has now been done - using two of the same citations of course. --Storye book (talk) 06:42, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks, Freikorp. It may look funny to you, but this is Wikipedia after all. Those FA articles have cites after every sentence! Thanks for complying with DYK rules. Yoninah (talk) 09:58, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
