Nozomi Ōhashi

[edit]

Nozomi Ohashi at a Ponyo press conference in 2009

  • ... that child actress Nozomi Ōhashi (pictured) sang the theme song of the 2008 film Ponyo when she was just eight years old?

Created/expanded by Lionratz (talk). Self nom at 13:56, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

  • The article is good to go. The article received an expansion that's more than fivefold made within three days. Ref 4 is a RS that mostly supports the hook (except the part about her age). The only problem right now is that the part in the hook about her age is not directly stated in the article. The aforementioned ref also states that the Nozomi was 9 years old at the time (although they probably counted from her birthday until the date of the film's release, instead of the single's release date). Either the age part needs to be addressed, or an ALT hook is needed. -- クラウド668 22:22, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks for reviewing!. Anyways, I took the age from ref no.2, which listed this single as "December 2007". If you calculate backwards, she will be 8 years old (1999 to 2007). I also weaved in into the article by stating "Nozomi Ōhashi made her debut as a singer when she sang the song Gake no Ue no Ponyo... in 2007" Will that do?--Lionratz (talk) 12:18, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
  • I realized that she was actually 8 at the time too, but ref 4's mistake left me thinking another source that specifically states that her age at the time is 8 is needed. I tried to look for a source that says so, but I couldn't find one either. I suppose I can be lenient and let this pass, but may I recommend using an ALT hook that is directly backed by the sources, such as the part about her ranking on the Oricon charts for 10 consecutive weeks? Thanks! -- クラウド668 18:20, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
  • How about ALT1: ... that child actress Nozomi Ōhashi (pictured) sang the song Gake no Ue no Ponyo, which was featured for 10 consecutive weeks on the Oricon charts, a record for a singer under 10 years old? I suppose that this is the best I can do, and I still think that the previous hook will draw in more viewers. As for your comment that no other sources listed her age at 8, this is because the sources listed her age as at the article's press time. And since most of them were published in 2208, of course they will say that she is 9. Therefore, I think that the ALT hook should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Thanks!--Lionratz (talk) 13:18, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
  • ALT1 is good to go, unless you insist on using the original. Ref 4 did not list her age at press time (which was 2011), but instead reported (or at least intended to report) her age during the single's release, which they erroneously listed as 9. I suppose I can let it slip since it's pretty obvious she was 8 at the time, but a part of me still thinks a source is needed per the DYK rules. If you want use the original hook, I can put this up for review again. Please don't get this the wrong idea; I understand how hard it can be to find sources for these articles. -- クラウド668 18:46, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
  • How about this ALT2: ... that child actress Nozomi Ōhashi (pictured) started acting when she was just 3 years old? I think it sounds better than ALT1.--Lionratz (talk) 01:12, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
  • For ALT2, I'm not comfortable with ref 7, because the original Japanese article does not mention when she debuted. However, I believe you can use this article as a cite for that sentence. If you wish to, I think you can also add an appositive that states she sang the theme song for Ponyo, which may bring in a little more attention. -- クラウド668 04:17, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the ref! ALT3: ... that child actress Nozomi Ōhashi (pictured), who sang the theme song for the 2008 film Ponyo, started acting when she was just 3 years old?--Lionratz (talk) 06:42, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
Everything (article, hook, and picture) is good to go for ALT3, if that is the one that you would like to go with. Sorry for making this harder than it should be. To other editors, please hold the hook for March 31 as the nominator stated above. -- クラウド668 08:51, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
