Bois Blanc Island Lighthouse and Blockhouse
[edit]- ... that Parks Canada blocked the entrance of the Bois Blanc Island Lighthouse (pictured) with rubble after vandals destroyed the restored door? Source: "An online description of the 40-foot high lighthouse said during the 1970s the door and fan light were restored but were then destroyed by vandals so the entrance was filled with rubble stone masonry. " (Boblo Island lighthouse receives heritage designation)

- New, timely nominated, long enough. Earwig is clear. No copy vios or close paraphrasing noted. Every paragraph is cited. Hook is interesting, short enough, supported in article by in line/on line sources. Picture is copyright free, in commons, used in article and clear at 100 pix. QPQ confirmed. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 13:37, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- FWIW, I think that Lighthouse_at_Bois_Blanc_Island,_1919_postcard might be a better and grabbier pic. Original picture is, to me, nondescript and uninviting. Without a reference point to establish size (you don't get scale and perspective in the small photo), it could be a
lampvase. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 17:53, 9 November 2017 (UTC)- I've resized both pics for the likely size at which they'd be presented on the front page. (I used measurements from previous DYK pics on the front page.) I think the postcard image may not adequately portray the lighthouse at this size. Another option may be to create a derivative work of the postcard, cropping so that everything from top right to just left of the
firstsecond tree past the lighthouse (to the left), and perhaps some portion of the water, while retaining the same aspect ratio. I don't know if this would be much better though. I searched Flickr for other possible pics, but I didn't find any. Mindmatrix 15:21, 10 November 2017 (UTC)- User: Doug Coldwell what do you think? Would you crop down the post card? 7&6=thirteen (☎) 15:51, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- I would crop the postcard to get just the lighthouse for a better presentation. The complete postcard would not show well.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 16:28, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- I assume we need to add this to the article. However, it is already there, albeit in an uncropped format. Thank you Doug Coldwell for sending me the file, which I then uploaded to Commons. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 16:55, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
