August Meyszner

[edit]

  • ... that SS-Gruppenführer und Generalleutnant der Polizei August Meyszner (pictured) was hanged in 1947 for overseeing the killing of as many as 8,000 Jewish women and children using a gas van?

  • An excellent article based on tons of research; it's obvious that you put a lot of work into it. The article is new enough, long enough, neutrally written, and well referenced. All paragraphs have at least one cite. As most refs are offline, unable to check for close paraphrasing; however, the few online sources do not show close paraphrasing. Offline hook refs AGF and cited inline. However, I'm wondering why you don't add the "8,000" figure to the hook? Image is pd and appears in article. QPQ done. Yoninah (talk) 22:29, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Thank you. Good to go. Yoninah (talk) 00:06, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
  • One more request: Is it possible to write his title in the hook in English? Yoninah (talk) 00:08, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
  • My view is that SS ranks don't translate well into English. There is also the issue of equivalency, which is an area that always draws the crabs. Generalleutnant isn't equivalent to Lieutenant General, as you would expect, it is actually equivalent to Major General. I use German ranks with in-line explanatory notes in all the articles I write (for that reason). Cheers, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 00:25, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
  • I understand. It's not so much the SS title as the "und Generalleutnant der Polizei" that makes it a string of nonsensical German. In the article lead you wrote his title as Higher SS and Police Leader. Yoninah (talk) 16:27, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Yes, I see that in the infobox. Okay, we'll leave it as is. Yoninah (talk) 21:32, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
