[edit]How did luther remove them from power.--129.128.235.97 22:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly, the article says Luther "defeated" them. Not very clear. Was there a gunfight or were lightsabres involved? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.236.161.174 (talk) 07:57, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
No guns or weapons involved. he simply blasted them in his writings and sermons. Luther believed (Correctly) that these "Prophets" were a little crazy. Luther did not like the way they misled the German people. Mrwilliams net (talk) 20:22, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Can someone explain to me, how the belief of adult baptism is anti catholic. i view rather as a different believe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.231.42.45 (talk) 20:44, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
Abecedarian merge
[edit]I really feel that it's better if the Abecedarian page stays separate from this one. Whomever put up the merge template didn't start a discussion as it is. :/ SilverserenC 19:46, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, there is no reason to merge them. I will remove the label.--Sanya3 (talk) 20:28, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Disturbing the Peace?
[edit]The Events section on December 27th links here, claiming that the Zwickau Prophets disturbed the peace. Here the entry says they were possibly involved in a disturbance, and later that their presence may have caused an unrest. The nature of this event is completely missing. It is disappointing for Wikipedia to engage in such sensationalism. Can someone tell us what these fellows actually did to merit these accusations? Dj2r-wp (talk) 17:29, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
Weasel Phrases
[edit]The article has a number of phrases that fall into the Words to Watch policy, specifically MOS:WEASEL and MOS:CLAIM. Two are pure waffles: ...who were possibly involved in a disturbance,
and, the Prophets' presence may have caused an unrest
. The sources appear to be very clear; the trio caused some sort of disruption serious enough that Melanchthon turned to Luther, and Luther "calm[ed] the growing radicalism." Can anyone give a good reason that we must use those imprecise and ambiguous modals? Two other phrases sow doubt where none seems to exist: The Prophets then reportedly confronted Luther,
and, Luther claimed to have demanded...
I see nothing in the cited sources that suggest they didn't confront Luther, nor that argue that Luther didn't challenge them to (colloquially) put up or shut up. Of the four weaselly examples, the last might well survive scrutiny (no independent evidence unequivocally states he actually demanded a miracle), but the other three seem highly unencyclopaedic. Please comment below. If you feel the words are required, please provide citeable sources to support the waffling. Unless there is an WP:RS'ed reason to keep them, I will make the change on or after 05 Jan 2025. Ta, Bitten Peach (talk) 14:10, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
