Other origins?
[edit]I recall hearing folkloric origins for this type of design as well- that certain types of evil supernatural entities traveled across water only in straight lines. Could be complimentary with (or predate) the Zen explanation. --Spasemunki (talk) 22:09, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

Redundant article?
[edit]There are two articles, one on "Zigzag bridges" and one on "Nine-turn bridges," but my understanding is that they are the same. Is there a distinction to be made, or should these articles be merged?
