Hengdian?
[edit]Should there be an article on Hengdian, the city where many Chinese films are made? Badagnani 06:50, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
New template
[edit]The new template box is rather unattractive; could we perhaps use one modeled on the Korean template, as can be seen as Sujeonggwa? There's already one in existence at Template:Chinesename, though extras can be added and the color changed if necessary. Badagnani 09:19, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
The incident of Sanmen Wan (1899).
[edit]The Sanmen Wan (Bay) was occupied by the crew of the Italian cruiser "Elba" from February 26 until March 3, 1899. The Italian goal was to transform the bay into a colony and Zhejiang into an Italian "sphere of influence". The fierce diplomatic reaction of China hindered this project but only in 1901 the Italian claim towards Zhejiang, after a new expedition, came to an end (March 2).
Huankantou/Huaxi riot
[edit]Whyt isn't there anything about the riot and it's aftermath? Please add information if you have time or knowledge. Sinse jul 30th 2007
Ming / Qing dynasties?
[edit]Is there any chance that we could add to the sections on the Ming and Qing dynasty eras? Specifically, I am thinking about the revival of Shuyuan academies and the threat to Zhejiang posed by Wokou pirates during the fifteenth century? Thanks. Dwrwiki (talk) 20:27, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Irregular romanizations
[edit]Always loathe to remove sourced info (particularly when the rest of the page is running short), but putting
- '''Che-Keang''',<ref name=Roberts1>{{cite book|last=Roberts|first=Edmund|title=Embassy to the Eastern Courts of Cochin-China, Siam, and Muscat|year=1837|publisher=Harper & Brothers|location=New York|page=122|url=http://www.wdl.org/en/item/7317/view/1/122/}}</ref>
into the lead sentence of the article runs afoul of WP:UNDUE. No doubt some people used this spelling (even though it's not Wade), but it's not Postal Map and not worth noting right at the top of an article in the 21st century. Kindly restore it if we end up with a section of irregular romanizations or an irregular romanization section opens up at {{Chinese}}. — LlywelynII 07:32, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
I created the redirect at Che-Keang. Presumably anyone looking for what the hell that is needs it more there, while anyone here really doesn't need to see it (pending an "old, obsolete spellings" list). — LlywelynII 07:34, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- Che-keang was the form used in the 1902 Encyclopedia Britannica. There were some transliterations of Chinese that used hyphens to separate syllables within words, though I couldn't say which system is/isn't being used here. I concur that we don't need it in the article lede. Rincewind42 (talk) 16:03, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
Could someone please add the following topic.....
