Why executed?

[edit]

Can it be added why this person was executed? Badagnani 02:39, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My guess would be that that was because she was with the Communists, who were at war with the KMT. Dauw —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.210.51.130 (talk) 10:08, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yang KaiHui refused to file for a divorce for Mao(as the KMT wanted), not knowing that Mao at this time already took another wife(although to be fair Mao didn't know about Yang's situation either). Which is why I think we should put her marriage lasting to 1930, the year she died, instead of 1927. 1927 was the date were Mao left her to travel with the army, neither filed for divorce. At most it should be 1928, where Mao married another woman, although I don't believe Mao filed for divorce at that time with Yang KaiHui. Gnip 2:47, 09 Feburary 2008 (UTC)

Yang Kaihui was offered her freedom by Chiang if she denounced Mao, or death if she did not. She refused to denounce her husband and was tortured and executed at the age of 28. In the hearts of the Chinese who know this story, she is a true heroine and greatly admired. It is said that to Mao, Yang Kaihui was his one and true love. According to Dr Li's biography of Mao, Yang asked Mao to leave the revolution and the killings and just have an ordinary family life, but he refused as he had higher ambitions. Li also said she was educated in a Christian school and had Christian values and therefore the disgust of killings. 86.161.56.118 (talk) 01:08, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it just me, or does the article indicate that Yang Kaihui was both the first and second wives of Mao? --Loslaure —Preceding unsigned comment added by Loslaure (talkcontribs) 23:03, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In his boyhood Mao was 'married' to a girl by his parents as it was the tradition. The marriage was never consummated, and Mao had never acknowledged it as his first marriage. Therefore to Mao, his marriage to Yang was his first. 86.156.252.203 (talk) 23:51, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Under HUNAN article it claims this is Mao's first wife

[edit]

I don't know enough to discern which is correct. Can someone fix this please? 70.213.218.243 (talk) 02:47, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mao refused to acknowledge his real first wife as legitimate, so according to him, Yang Kaihui is his first wife.

Propagandistic tone

[edit]

This article was clearly written by the Chinese Ministry of Journalism and Propaganda, or whatever it's called.

Could use a re-write.220.101.130.238 (talk) 00:21, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually it was the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China until it was renamed the CPC Central Committee Publicity Department in 1998. But in any case I agree so adding POV tag.--Brian Dell (talk) 02:04, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious as to what the u.s./taiwan point of view would be? Or what would the cia propaganda department would write? That Yang killed herself? And of course, the kmt or other u.s backed forces never resort to violence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by D342342342342 (talkcontribs) 02:02, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Victim of capitalism

[edit]

Can we add her to the list of victims of capitalism? Oh wait, there's no such list! — Preceding unsigned comment added by D342342342342 (talkcontribs) 02:00, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Picture used for another biography

[edit]

I noticed that the same picture used for Yang Kaihui is also used for an article on a woman named Zhao Wuzhen (known for her suicide, known as "Miss Zhao's suicide") Ironicnamejpg (talk) 06:29, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
