Removing a reference
[edit]I removed a bare URL for a newspaper article from the References section that had been added on June 28, 2021. It was subsequently restored by User:74.117.230.98 (whose previous edits to this page[1][2][3] have all been insults directed at the current burgess) with this edit summary: It's a reference to the person who is the current Burgess and who consistently edits this page to make sure there are as many references as possible to him in it.
Some points of rebuttal:
- As I wrote in my edit summary, the newspaper article is not about Woodsboro.
- This wiki article is not about the current burgess, who wasn't even in office when the newspaper story was written.
- The References section is for links used to support the content in the article. Nothing in the newspaper story has been used in this article, so it is not actually a reference.
- I see no evidence that the current burgess
consistently edits this page
. Even if he has, it's something to address here first, and later, if necessary, through the Conflict of interest Noticeboard. Adding a bare URL under References is not how to handle that.
Given the above, I'll delete the bare URL again. -- Pemilligan (talk) 23:42, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
