[edit]The article I chose is Women in Benin, where every woman in Benin is treated poorly and unfairly by their gender. Their gender roles for being women and society could all think about a woman's role is housemaid, caretaker, or babysitter. According to the article "Benin Women in Culture, Business & Travel: A Profile of Beninese Women in the Fabric of Society," states "Girls from the age of five or so are actively involved in housekeeping, sibling care, and agriculture."A woman's role is to be a housemaker and nothing at all, but women have much potential to be more than a housemaker. Moreover, these rules apply to women by their gender that has not changed for a while. Unfair rules to lower women's standards can lower their confidence to have a lower chance of being a high-quality worker with better wages. Based on their gender, women have complications that do not have equality as men do. Women are rarely working for a high pay job as women in the United States. Society wants to keep the gender roles traditional as men are dominant in their relationship. According to "Criminal Abuse of Women and Children; An International Perspective," states " This is the sacrosanct rule of the strong sex over the weak sex." In Benin, women have less independence for just being women since they have less confidence to speak out on their minds. Being a woman in Benin has fewer opportunities than men do for being a different gender. According to the article "Benin: Women, Poverty, and Discrimination," states "Men, in turn, know that they enjoy many advantages which they consider perfectly normal."There has been a lack of respecting women of how they are human too with opinions and thoughts. Every woman has a mind, and they are keeping away from it without thinking. They should give a chance to use their mind to feel independent and dominant for once. Laws impact women's disadvantages without giving them a chance to have a sense of freedom and equality. [1] [2] [3]
I am researching the family life and education of women in Benin to add to this page. Looking forward to collaborating. Xyz2345 (talk) 15:58, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
