Founding date?

[edit]

While the article currently cites the founding date for Wilmore Steamship Company as 1930, in a 1934 action before the United States Board of Tax Appeals, the Wilmore Steamship petitioned to correct the Commissioner of Internal Revenue's claim that the company owed $113,864.60 in back taxes from 1928. Further, the petition states that the company, "a New York corporation with its principal office in New York City, on or about July 12, 1916, acquired by purchase a steamer known as S.S. Wilmore at a cost price of $1,742,340. On or about September 12, 1917, the Wilmore was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine, and became a total loss." (https://cite.case.law/bta/30/866/). Thus it appears that the Wilmore Steamship Company as an NY corporation dates to at least 1916. Ironsides01 (talk) 18:03, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
