William Milligan Sloane III, publisher, b. August 15, 1906, was not the grandson of William Milligan Sloane, historian, b. November 12, 1850.

The historian Sloane did have a grandson named William Milligan Sloane, but he was born on January 16 or 17, 1921, in Paris, France, along with his twin brother James Ross Sloane. The twins were the sons of James Renwick Sloane (son of William Senior) and Isabel Hoyt Sloane. This information came from Isabel's U. S. Passport Application, passport issue date: July 9, 1921; New York Passenger Lists; and the Social Security Death Index. William Sloane, born 1921 married Martha Chamberlin Sloane. His obituary can be found in the Princeton Alumni Weekly of Sept. 26, 2007. William M. Sloane's obituary
