I'll review this article shortly. Wizardman 18:39, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the issues I found:

  • "and imigrated to America in 1818" immigrated
    • Changed.
  • "Later, he was as a merchant, cotton planter, lumberman, banker, miller, coal mine operator, owned of vast tracts " he was a merchant...owner of vast
    • Changed.
  • There are a few things that could probably be linked but aren't (University of Ohio, Civil War, various cities, etc.) but it's not a requirement.
    • Changed.
  • "authorized to have $200,000.00 " for this and other currency mentions, the cents aren't needed.
    • Changed.

Review in progress. Wizardman 04:53, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the rest:

  • "Cairo Illinois for the city at large ward with D. Hurd." comma after Illinois, also Hurd's full name is used in the following sentence, so clean that up.
    • Changed.
  • "William Butler Duncan Charles Walsh, " comma after Duncan
    • Changed.
  • "In fact, J. P. Morgan served as president and as a director" not really a fan of the in fact to start the sentence, but also not sure hw to best reword it.
    • Changed.
  • 'manner,"In ' space after comma
    • Changed.
  • Not a requirement, but making an article on Hallidayboro and changing the redlink to blue would be nice.
    • Good idea. Will do in the future.

Article now on hold, will pass when the issues are fixed. Wizardman 17:16, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good, article now passes. Wizardman 03:49, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good article?

[edit]

The article is too overbuden with images now making the article content hard to read. The status of this article should be reassed. --KAVEBEAR (talk) 23:30, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Obituary

[edit]

The entire text of the obituary section appears to be copied and pasted. Its source cannot be verified through the linked notes, but if its date is accurate, copyright may have expired. Regardless, why is a good article using entirely copied sections of any content? This is troubling to me, and I will tag the section as copied. fdsTalk 21:35, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Fdssdf -- The obit was lifted from The Cairo Citizen 5 Jan 1899- 28 Dec 1899. It does have a reference, but no link. While the original text is not longer subject to copyright, I don't know about the work of a volunteer whose name you'll find on this page [1] Rhadow (talk) 20:29, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent, it's not in copyright violation; the prose just needs to be be edited to conform to Wikipedia's tone and style. Fdssdf (talk) 23:36, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
