CorenSearchBot

[edit]

CorenSearchBot is in error. I did not copy anything from Graces Guide. Most of the material in the Graces Guide was standard biographical details copied from other printed sources.--Das48 (talk) 14:46, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Das48, the problem is that wherever it originally came from, we have to ensure it is compatible with our license. Facts cannot be copyrighted, of course, but creative elements of presentation, including word choice and structure can. While the CorenBot's "hits" from Graces Guide seem to be just facts, the section on Martley HERE runs very close to the presentation structure in this article, as seen HERE, and so is problematic from a copyright angle. If possible, please go over that red paragraph in the second link and give it a paraphrasing, which will eliminate any concerns. Thanks! CrowCaw 00:24, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think the texts on the Grace's Guide page are all free to use, as they date from the nineteenth century and must by now be out of copyright. However, as Crow notes, there seemed to be some close paraphrasing from steamindex.com (though not nearly as much as Earwig tool seemed to indicate), which does not show any sign of being free content. I've removed it. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:48, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
