Name

[edit]

Duplicate article on the same person. i think this article should remain since the "III" will not be used by readers for a search. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ccson (talkcontribs) 18:02, 5 January 2006 This article should really be William H. Gray, III

District

[edit]

Gray represented the 2nd district of Pennsylvania, not the 96th. The confusion probably arose because he was first elected as a member of the 96th Congress. I have corrected accordingly. --Adamgarrigus 17:53, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

William H. Gray (Pennsylvania politician)William H. Gray III – Gray was popularly known as William H. Gray III, which is shorter (WP:CRITERIA) than the current title. Obituaries written on his death refer to him with the III, such as "William H. Gray III, pillar in Congress and city, dead at 71" (Philadelphia Inquirer) and "William H. Gray III, former congressman for Pa., dies at 71" (The Washington Post). Also, a search of the Philadelphia Inquirer archives shows 67 hits for "William H. Gray III" and over 1,800 results for "William H. Gray 3d". Arbor to SJ (talk) 06:24, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
