"Where's the beef" was actually first uttered by an old man, in a commercial that aired right before Clara took over the line. I remember it being a version of the "step aside" commercial, which can be found on YouTube, but not the version with the old guy.

The commercials were very similar, and ran pretty much the same way. Instead of "fluffy bun, it's a very fluffy bun", it was "step aside, will you kindly step aside", and then when this old guy finally gets the burger, he says "Hey, where's the beef?". Then, the familiar one with Clara came out, and the one with the guy seems to have been completely lost and forgotten about. So people should keep an eye out for that one. I absolutely remember that commercial as well (and even remarked on it on this very Talk page back in 2007, but my comment was moved to the archives some time back). Like you, I can't find any trace of it on the Internet. - Wrassedragon (talk) 09:04, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
