This article doesn't have a grounding in sources. There isn't a genre of music called West Coast country. A Rose Maddox collection called Rose of the West Coast Country was assembled by Folkways, but Maddox is generally classified as singing in the country genre, despite her California influence. Billboard wrote a piece about West Coast country music but they were talking about regular country music, not a separate genre.[1] Even the West Coast Country Music Association is not about a music genre but about bringing together performers of "country, bluegrass and gospel".
I agree, and I said as much in my edit summary a few days ago [2]. The few good sources that I can find that talk about West Coast Country refer to the Bakersfield sound and to artists like Merle Haggard, not the gentler country rock sound of the Eagles et al. Technically, a merge would mean bringing the good parts of one article into another article. But I don't think there are any good parts of this article – there's nothing worth saving. I am just going to make a redirect and call it day. Binksternet (talk) 18:06, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
