I have serious doubts about this article as the subject's one and only claim to any notability was being the last living survivor of a disaster. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:32, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"Last living survivor" of a war, massacre, pogrom, natural disaster, great historical event, or even a time makes one significant by Wikipedia standards. The last living survivor of Holocaust-related events will be notable by Wikipedia standards. We have an article on the last African-American survivor of the Tulsa race riot of 1921; we have an article on the last survivor of the sinking of the Titanic; we have articles on the last surviving soldiers of many countries involved in the First World War; we have a story on the last surviving person at the Treaty of Versailles. In short time we will even have articles on people of infamy -- such as the last member of the Nazi SS.
Ad Orientem : There is a Wikipedia page dedicated to the "Last survivors of historical events" (at first I mistakenly thought it was a category). There is no doubt in my opinion that the Hindenburg disaster is a highly significant historical event and that Doehner, therefore, ought to be included in this list of last survivors and there should also be an article about him. I am not convinced that the community has exempted "last" individuals who were present at historical events w/o being significant contributors to those events, from WP:1E. The list of last survivors was interesting. I looked at a random sampling and found all but one had very strong claims to notability independent of their being the last individual in a given category. -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:05, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As there appears to be some disagreement on this matter, I think a PROD is inappropriate. I am going to send this to AfD for community discussion. -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:47, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
