Expansion request

The "Upcoming notable events" section has gotta go. Wikipedia is not a directory or indiscriminate collection of information, and it's definitely not a promotional vehicle. This also brings up WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV issues. Morgan Wick 06:37, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Artists

Madonna didn't do Wembley Arena in 2008

At the head of the 'Music' section, Madonna's 2008 concert is referred to. Madonna didn't do Wembley Arena in 2008. Unlike previous tours, it was Wembley Stadium that time. Should that concert be even referred to, therefore, in an article specifically about Wembley Arena? Caspar (talk) 01:43, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Who's Missing ?

During my involvement with Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/May 2010, I was editing George Michael. I don't remember how I got to Wembley Arena, maybe fixing a link, anyways I was reading through the list of musical acts that have "Played" at the arena. And I quickly noticed an act "missing" from the list, which prompted this question. I say "missing" only because it's hard to believe this act "not playing" there Pink Floyd, surly this English rock band had played London's second largest indoor arena. Now as I was getting the links to put in this message I found Wembley Stadium (1923), my first thought was, ok they played here, this question no longer needs to be asked. I now think why not ask ? Has Pink Floyd ever played Wembly Arena (you would think if Led Zeppelin and Queen played there, then Floyd seems "missing") ? While I wait for a response I will try to find out the difference between Wembley Stadium, and Wembley Arena. Thanx, Mlpearc MESSAGE 16:13, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Very large and unreferenced list

The list of music acts that has performed at Wembley Arena now includes 161 acts. What is its value? Moreover, not one is referenced and I do not see how we can have any faith that any act listed has indeed played at Wembley Arena. Would we do better to remove it entirely rather than to leave it to expand? NebY (talk) 10:25, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

This is getting out of hand, and it's not just this article, it's every other arena article. While all the lists are getting bigger by the day, this article seems to be one of the worst for listing performers, and in my opinion, the long list is taking away from the article. A quick check of other arena articles, and you will see that most have the same long list of names, with one editor who seems to pick a performer of the day and then spends hours adding that performer to a large number of articles. I really don't know what should be done about this, but a line has to be drawn somewhere. I can see performances that are for one reason or another notable being included, as long as they are referenced, but every performer being added to every place they performed seems rather trivial. Now, editors have started adding whenever a scheduled concert was cancelled, unreferenced and no reason why the cancellation is notable to be added to an encyclopedia. I only just discovered how widespread this long-listing is when checking contributors and their other contributions before starting to take corrective action on this article. Rioght now I'm staying focused on this: I've tagged it, explained the taggging here and left a message on User talk:Shyguy1991 as the contributor of most of the recent additions, inviting participation in this discussion. The message remains there. I'd like to wait another day or three to see if that editor or anyone else joins the discussion before simply removing the list, UTC and all.

If that proceeds without conflict, perhaps I, or you, or anyone else could carry on working through the other articles about music venues worldwide that have long lists. My first thought is that each case should go through the same process of tagging and talking, but that would be a long process. I'm also conscious that it would look very like a campaign to utterly excise months of work by one editor. I need advice. Do you recommend the Village Pump? Or any other forum? "Months of work by one editor" can appropriately be edited or even removed if is not in keeping with the ideals of the project. The editor in question has been approached repeatedly and has never responded; hir only action has been to blank hir Talk page and proceed undeterred in adding every possible performer to every venue they've appeared at. No reason to be slow about correcting this situation, except perhaps that I, personally, had a hard time on the one occasion I took time to find good refs for names at Hallenstadion. The first four or five performers I chose didn't lead to any solid refs, making them candidates for removal when I eventually source other representative acts, and I put the work aside. I'll get to it eventually, but there's no reason to be shy with Shyguy's edits, and no reason to go to VP or ANI. The user's been notified (Monday) of this discussion, has just deleted the notice from Talk (3 hours ago), and if no reply appears we can certainly move on in good conscience. The idea of waiting a day or two more is very thoughtful, and I support it, but more we need not do. Ownership

It would be good if this article and the article on the Stadium had some information on ownership. AFAIK both were owned by Wembley PLC; the FA now owns the Stadium but Wikipedia doesn't tell us much (anything?) more than that. --kingboyk (talk) 22:24, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

NME Poll Winners Concerts & Greatest Hits Live (Rip It to Shreds)

I believe that the NME Poll Winners Concerts of the 1960s were held at the Empire Pool (Wembley Arena), not Wembley Stadium. In addition, I believe that The Animals album Greatest Hits Live (Rip It to Shreds) would have also been recorded at Wembley Arena, and not Wembley Stadium. Can anyone confirm this? Best Regards.
