Why do articles like this even exist? Far too many science and mathematics articles are like this. Anyone who understands a single sentence of this article wouldn't be looking it up on Wikipedia. I understand assuming the reader has a certain level of basic knowledge, but this is just ridiculous.
- It's not ridiculous. It's extremely useful to have references like this to look up basics about things you don't think about everyday but that are relevant to your field. I find it amazing how many people leave these goofy, defensive comments about articles written on subjects outside the realm of daily experience that people without special training cannot reasonably expect to understand.
