Why I added the notability tag and undid the reversion of my edit.

[edit]

Mr. Mason does not meet the criteria for WP:PRODUCER because he

  • Is not widely cited by peers or successors; or
  • Is not known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique;
  • Has not created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work which has been the primary subject of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews, or of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually not a single episode of a television series)
  • His work has not: (a) become a significant monument, (b) been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) won significant critical attention, or (d) been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.

He does not meet the criteria for WP:NACADEMIC because he

  • Was not a researcher at all.
  • Has not received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level.
  • Has not been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a fellow of a major scholarly society which reserves fellow status as a highly selective honor (e.g., Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Physics).
  • His academic work has not made a significant impact in the area of higher education, affecting a substantial number of academic institutions.
  • Has not held a distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, a named chair appointment that indicates a comparable level of achievement, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon.
  • Has not held a highest-level elected or appointed administrative post at a major academic institution or major academic society.
  • Has not had a substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity.
  • Has not been the head or chief editor of a major, well-established academic journal in their subject area.

Neither does he meet the criterion for WP:POLITICIAN because he

  • Has not held international, national, province–wide office, has been a member of a legislative body at those levels. He is not a major local political figure who has received significant press coverage (such as mayor of a major city like London or Brussels).

Finally, as noted at the top of this page, this article was nominated for deletion and the consensus was to delete. Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 00:36, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

He does, however, appear to meet WP:GNG based on the sourcing available. Instead of reinstating maintenance tags, why don’t you nominate the article for deletion? C F A 00:42, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Oona Wikiwalker: That deletion debate is from 2016, as the {{old AfD}} tag explicitly states. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 01:10, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I did miss the year there. Thank you for correcting me! Is Halifax considered a major city by those who've had nothing to do with it? Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 01:30, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'll undo my own reversion and fix my mistake on the article page and I think I should leave any challenge of this page to other people. Sorry about my mistake! Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 01:35, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
