[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Watford Grammar School for Girls. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}

Concern about content
[edit]I have been trying to fix an incorrect page but two people have now removed my edit .The page in question is this Under the 'Notable former pupils' section Priti Patel has been included. She was never a > pupil at the school (I was!! She was not there!). The wiki page references a Guardian article which was itself incorrect. Patel's own wikipedia page has since been edited to remove any reference to Watford Girls Grammar. She was in fact a pupil at Westfield. There are many references to this mistake to be found online but unfortunately the incorrect Guardian article is still leading to the perpetuation of this falsehood. Please remove Priti Patel from the Watford Grammar pageLittlekit999 (talk) 19:37, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- Talk:Priti Patel#School - not Watford Grammar School for Girls is related to this, smells like a possible instance of good old citogenesis to me. Of course, when supposedly eminently reliable sources like the BBC and The Guardian screw up, Wikipedia's rigid WP:BLP content policies have the potential to inadvertently bite themselves in the arse. I certainly sympathize with anyone's desire not to be wrongfully associated with Priti Patel, but will be waiting for third opinions for the time being. Dr. Duh 🩺 (talk) 19:57, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- what would a third option look like? To get it changed could I get a letter from the school confirming she was never a student? Fdrcook9 (talk) 14:46, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Fdrcook9: Unfortunately, that's not a good option, either, as it would fit Wikipedia's definition of original research. The only clean way to get this error fixed in absence of cooperation from Patel's office would be for the school to get a (reputable) media outlet to publish a correction of the earlier reporting, which could then be cited here. In the meantime, I'm going to go ahead and simply remove her name from the list anyway. Considering even Patel's own article is purposefully vague about her early education (
She attended a comprehensive school in Watford, Hertfordshire
), we can surely live with this omission. If someone objects, I suppose the next step might be WP:RSN. Dr. Duh 🩺 (talk) 16:18, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
