WPPWPP (disambiguation) – to allow WPP plc to be renamed as WPP. Pi314m (talk) 19:12, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"to allow WPP to be the company named WPP." Pi314m (talk) 04:58, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. reworded/clarified (above) to: "to allow WPP plc to be renamed as WPP" Pi314m (talk) 21:54, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. No evidence has been offered of the primacy of any topic under this name. Notably, it is notoriously difficult to demonstrate a primary topic for a three-letter acronyms, given the ubiquity of such acronyms in our society. BD2412 T 01:29, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Author's supporting information: The Wiki Use commonly recognizable names policy is supported by:
A google search for "WPP" "New York Times" finds:

1-10= WPP, all the Ad people; 11-20= WPP; 21-29 the Ad people. Note that #29 is WPP plc at Wiki. #30 is "Wpp Montagu Square, which also operates under the name Ogilvy & Mather" (the latter is an Ad agency owned by WPP).

Omitting NYTimes results in wpp.com, then the wiki article, then WPP on twitter. When people look for WPP, it's WPP plc that they want. Pi314m (talk) 16:52, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. Witness Protection Program gets more traffic.[1]. Note that "use commonly recognizable names" doesn't award primary topicness. If the plc article is better named "WPP" but isn't the primary topic for it, it gets disambiguated, and "WPP plc" is a WP:NATURALDIS. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:42, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
